Ok, here's the deal. I'm doing some side work tomorrow thats only gonna take me a few hours, and will net me around $400 (whats even better is that I'm taking a vacation day to do it

). I figured that I will use it for play money, and I will buy a light with it. The problem is that I am stuck in a dilemma. I will either purchase a Surefire M6 or a UK Light Cannon AND an E1e. I am stuck between them....I really like the M6, and think that its an awesome light, but it is expensive. If I go the route of the UK and the E1e, I will spend less $, but I am worried that the Light Cannon wont handle abuse very well (plus I dont want to have to buy a 60-80 dollar lamp assembly cause I dropped it a foot)....I am driving myself insane over this one.

Suggestions, comments?

In the type of job I do, there are many times in which I will not be in an enclosed space, but working in an outdoor area sometimes out in the middle of nowhere, with no electrical service. So a medium range light that illuminates a broad area has appeal to me. So, I guess that brightness may be an issue after all to get a wide lighted area.

P.S. I all ready have an M3

Lightspeed2 I noticed that people on the SFBB are saying Sable Co is a good place to buy SF lights. I noticed they have the M6 for $253 at that price you can get your M6 and the E1e. Also the LC buld costs like $70 to replace so if you drop the light and the bulb breaks you are in deep trouble.

SableCo.

They are about 20min from my house. I was looking at purchasing an M6 from them if I do indeed get one. It is kind of depressing to know that the Light Cannons LA is that expensive, though

M6M6M6M6M6M6M6M6M6M6M6...........one of the greatest lights ever made.

You know you`ll get it sooner or later, so why not buy it now while you can still get it at the lower price.

Enjoy!

Well, is it just for fun, or do you have a specific task for the light to do?

If it is just for fun, it doesn't matter which one you buy, because you will eventually buy them all anyway!

I was going to buy a Surefire E2e, but I figured that I could buy Brinkmann Legend LX's instead, and keep one at the office, one at home, and one in the truck.

I know that it is a matter of time before I purchase my first SureFire (I say "first" because I know that eventually I will have more than one!)

If it is for a specific task, then evaluate your needs and purchase the ones that best meet your needs.

I don't have the UK but I do have the others you're considering. I have to say go for the M6. It's an awesome, tough, beautiful piece of hardware. And very small for what it does. Fits in the front pocket of my cargo shorts.
I had a neighbors dog barking in the field behind my house the other night so I snuck on him with the M6, lit him up, and chased him all the way home in a spotlight all the while yelling like a banshee. That was one scared pup. Had company over at the time and they were rolling on the floor.
I am an animal lover but this beagle wanders the neighborhood and gets everyone elses dogs fired up.

M6!

Well, it seems that I am pretty good at justifying a light purchase, because they are a needed tool in my line of work. I would like to know how tough the UK Light Cannon really is. Whichever light I get will be subject to some abuse. Something bright is not neccessarily a priority, but that is the part that I am splurging on.

I can't imagine using a LC or a M6 for "regular" use. Maybe if you job is to light runways for airplanes? Seriously though, a M3 is more then bright enough for 95% of what I do, and MUCH easier to carry.

But if you are going to buy one or the other I would go with the M6, then you have a hi or low beam. I haven't seen the LC in person, but I can't imagine it would be more durable then the M6.

Well, I've made my purchase....I bought a light cannon. The M6 was a little too much $ for me to justify (plus my girlfriend found out about me getting the cash and I have to take her out). I think that my M3 will suit me just fine for a tactical light. I just liked the 3 hour runtime of the UK better than the 1 hour of the M6. If I dont like the UK, then I'll sell it on ebay. So far, everything I've read has been positive, so I went for it. Thanks for your suggestions....
