Kel-Lite repair

I've come into possession of a 7 D cell Kel-Lite. I put new batteries in, but unfortunately, the bulb work for a brief seconf, then turned off. Now it won't turn on at all. Anyone know of any placed or people that work on or repair Kel-Lites? Any info would be appreciated.

Have you tried another bulb (or otherwise verified the bulb didn't die)?

I have not replaced the bulb yet, but I'm not sure how. Is it the same as a MagLite bulb to remove it? And will a Mag Lite bulb work as a replacement?

I'm not familiar with Kel-Lites. My suspicion of the bulb is based on your description of how and when it stopped working. If you can remove it, you should be able to test the bulb's continuity with a multimeter.

Great light! Worth hanging onto and playing around with! A friend of mine who did security work and moved away left me a Streamlight SL-35X years ago. I played around with it, ultimately had AA's leak inside of it and threw it out. I always regret not seeing what else I could have done with it.

Just sounds like the bulb is blown in your Kel-lite. Try a new bulb. A 6-cell mag bulb should be okay to try out with 7-cells.
If you want to experiement with different bulbs, you can usually find PR-base flashlight bulbs at Radio Shack for varying voltages.

You can always get a D-cell spacer ("dummy cell") and just run it with 6 D's.

You want a PR-20 lamp for the 7D configuration. Biggest Kel I own is a 5D, which takes a PR-12. 6D is a PR-18. All readily available. Note that there may be a spare lamp inside the tailcap under the spring washer.
