Kershaw Camp / Or not ! Is it real ? A factory 2nd / a fake ? ( $31.23 Oz bananas to my door )
That's just cheap ! When I first saw these they were $80 Bananas here in Oz , and now I am seeing $150 bananas or more . That's like 100% inflation .
What the hell is our gooberment talking about when they talk about inflation ? ( Are they fudging the numbers ? )
Anyways !
1) Factory edge was poor . Took one hour of grinding to put an edge on the knife ( wet stone grinder / knife sharpener )
2) 350 slices on the Newspaper . ( Not convinced this is a reliable / repeatable test media .
3) That grip is a little on the small side
4) Nothing flat on the blade , using fixed sharpening is difficult .
5) Knife will be re tested with a guided to 600 grit diamond edge

I might use ALDI advertising as a test media next time . Test media needs to be repeatable and reliable ( Like Printer Paper ) For now I may need to run them side by side . Cos the news print failed at 350 and then the edge failed on printer paper as well ...... ? hu ! ( That's not repeatable performance - more like mood swings )
For the price paid , I wasn't ripped a new one . Would I pay $150 ? = No thank you . ( Oz bananas ) .

Bushcrafty - I ground the spine cos it was a little convexed / rounded . It scrapes wood ( ground ) and ferro . Actually it was rather good on the ferro and very average on the Gum Tree branch .

Would I recommend = No .....

Real Kershaw Camp 5 sells for around $85.oo American and the blade is made from D2. I'd say that one's not the real thing.

That 'd be my guess ..
But Kershaw are made in China , so .......... It's not inconceivably not a factory 2nd or such . ( That's the problem )
I remember a long time ago now a CL flyer here in Oz sent a model airplane engine long out of production to China to be copied .
It did not take long for the Chinese to sell those engines to whom ever wanted them direct .
Because ! A) He was over pricing the engines , B) He thought he had exclusive rights C) Volume of sales .
So in the end the Manufacturer undercut him and that was that . And in short order everyone knew to order direct from the manufacturer ( well - if you were in the know ) . And the first person to come up with the red head , was me ! I traded the 1.5cc to Tony Cincota on account he fell in love with it on sight and the 2.5cc I still have . ( That was a long time ago )

One thing about China, they don't give a crap about copyright nor intellectual property rights. BMW once actually tried to sue a Chinese car company for blatantly ripping off their SUV design. Gathered up all the evidence, took the company to court. Literally the only difference was the shape of the grill.... and the corrupt Chinese judge said the blatant rip-off looked nothing like BMW's design. That's China.

Yeah ..... On Star Wars they were called Cloners .

OK Part 2 ...
Guided edge = 180 / 320 / 600 grit diamond ..
Edge began to roll around 250 , FAILED on the ALDI catalogue @ 300 slices and failed the printer paper @ 400 slices .
A quick N dirty wood strop had the knife slicing the ALDI catalogue once more .
