My one month old Scallion will not open all of the way on its own i.e. the torsion bar must have worn down???? If I flick the thumb bar, it only opens about 3/4 way. If I press the back of the blade, it also only opens 1/2 way. I used a special wrench (torq type) and tried adjusting the tension, to no avail!

Has anyone else had this problem???

The warranty will cover replacement, but I'm out the shipping costs!!!!

If this was my knife, I'd try dissambly and a thorough cleaning before sending it back to Kershaw. Odds are, a piece of crud has gotten into the mechanism, preventing the spring from fully opening the blade. As long as you have the correct torx bits, it's worth trying. I've been itching to take mine apart, just to see how it works, but so far I've resisted the urge.....for now...
Good luck.

This has happened twice to my avalanche. Grabbing a compressed air hose and blow it out or a small drop of oil drained towards the front pivot and working the blade back and forth is all it took to dislodge some little piece of debris and get it back to normal.
