Very nice! The retaining ring holds the electronics in place? Any reason not to pot them?

What current do you run the led at? How is runtime?

Chief,
Another marvel /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
What color is this one going to be?

Very cool, Chief. The "fingers" to center the reflector are slick!

One of these would probably bump my Arc AAA, no mean feat. Kudos! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Very nice job, Chief! You've done it again! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Very nice work! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

You are really cranking out some of the best custome and modded lights here lately.

You are an inspirring soul!

Thats it, I am dedecating this week to learning the rest of the lathe tricks I need to know. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

For current info, Doug has done a comprehensive workup of the micro converter here:

Shorter link by Saaby

The electronics are potted inside the microcan, and the copper can slides into the module. The retaining ring holds everything in place. This allows you to change out emitters/converters without making a new module.

Color? CPFer Mark wants OD, so OD it is /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This one took me about 4 hours for just the machine work. Electronics another hour or so. First light I made without destroying anything in the process /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'll be making a few more of these, so check b/s/t in a week or so...

NICE!!!

i assume that your the one that grabbed 3 micro converters off dat2zips site? =p i think i noticed him selling 3, was either 3 or 5. as well as the TX1K luxeons that he was sold out of? =p

i'm interested in 1 =)
Wouldnt R2H luxeons provide better efficiency since it has lower voltage demands?

Yep, guilty. I didn't buy the LEDs though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The R2H would probably be better, since we're not talking about a whole lot of available power here. I can't find those anymore, though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you have a stash...
