i want to know how bright for both XPR & KPR 103 bulb in Tec40.
Can some one tell me the brightness of these 2 bulb in terms of approximate lumen or watts??
i just know surge approx. 115 lumen

THANKYOU

I haven't a clue or way to even measure Lumens or Candelas etc.

But my TEC 40 with a Kpr 103 is very bright and very well dispersed. Some have said Xpr 103s last, but I've blown up any Xenon I tried to overdrive.

Here's a pic of a comparism between a Sanyo kpr 3.6v 0.8 and a Whitestar 3 cell Gag bulb.
Simply amazing if you ask me since the Sanyo one has a shorter filament and isn't so tightly wounded. This beamshot was done in a Tec 40. What you cannot see is that the Sanyo bulb option also has a brighter peripheral light. Because of camera exposure to show the details of the hotspot, the peripheral light is not seen.

Seems like gag has some improvements to do. Sanyo rocks!

the xpr 103 in my p tec40 makes for one Bright light. no bulb problems so far. it's every bit as bright as my sf 8x.

I wasn't able to see the pic Nerd posted.

That said, If the M*g bulb you showed was one of those magnified end of bulb lights, it is no wonder the Sanyo or Rayovac or Rat Shack bulbs are better. I tried one of those bulbs in a couple different lights and have not had any good things to say about it.

The M*g Xenon bulbs are something else. They are lazer tight and white in a M*g, and even made an orange peel TEC 40 a lot tighter. They still won't let a M*g flood worth nothing though.

Okay, you should be able to see it now.

It's a Whitestar 3C/D in a Tec 40 vs Sanyo 3.6v 0.8amp in a Tec 40, textured reflector, not so fresh batteries. But you should be able to see it now.

i tested some bulbs in my tec 40.

i believe that the stock bulb measures around 1300 lux--i didnt measure it, but i think that was quickbeam's number.

all were on fairly fresh alkalines one meter from target.

kpr113: 750 lux.

kpr 103: 1600 lux.

xpr 103: 3100 lux! silly bright.

YMMV, of course...

As I understand it Dan,

There are your standard two to a package Kryptons.

Then you have your one to a package WhiteStar with a Magnifying end on the bulb.

Then there are Magnum Star Xenons. One to a package. Much smaller glass, with parallel sides and a dome top. Blue material at the bottom on the inside.

I have one in a 2C, one in a 2D, one in a 3D, and one in a 4D. The 2C has the tightest focus, with a very smooth edged spot. The others are all a bit less so.

In any case, because they spot so tight, and will not flood well at all, I won't pick one up when I NEED light. I play with them mostly.

Edited to add: I think I will put 5 slightly used C cells in my 4D and take a chance. A 20% overdrive shouldn't make it a flash bulb...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Joe,
The reason I was asking is that I was over at Home Depot the other day and I noticed that they had lensed Magnum Star bulbs in the older silver packaging hidden behind the newer bulbs. I viewed them more as a curiosity than anything else. Their longer overall length rules out their utilization in a Tec 40, as the end of the envelope would come perilously close to the flashlight's lens [if the bulb would fit at all]. Thanks for your reply.

I run a R-Shack XPR-103 with NiMHs in my Tec 40 and its brighter than a 3D Mag. I showed to a friend of mine the other day and it out shined his E2E. So $18 for the light [REI], $1.99 for the bulb, $18 for the batteries and I'm still $20 ahead. Not bad, not bad at all...

Dan

Oh, by the way. I use it as a bike light.

Take a look at the bulb chart that I posted earlier today. It gives the brightness (MSCP), volts, mA, and average lifetime of the flashlight bulbs sold by Radio Shack. It may be helpfull in your discussions.

I'll also have to assume that he had a P60 LA and not a P61. Sorry that I couldn't give you hard figures on this. My bad.

Dan,

nevermind, you have already give me gd opinion & help me alot.
really thx.
i just concerning to buy a tec40 or not.

Thanks Joe,

I'll go check it out. I currently considering trying some 3.6v lithiums in it with a XPR-112 bulb. Mounted on my bicycle helmet, I should be able to burn my initials in some trunk lids with it.

Oh, by the way..."Cell Phone Shack" discontinued the XPR-102. I wanted to use one in my PTec Solo.
