(Well, duh)
I have a Rayovac headlite with a Krypton K4SB-2 bulb, but as dim as this bulb is, I find it hard to believe its a krypton. Is there a brighter screw-in type bulb I can replace this with? I need long bulb life, since I use these for caving, so overdriving is not an option for me. Or better yet, can this lamp be modified so that a K13, KPR113 or equivalent bulb will fit? I want to stick with incandescent bulbs, and not switch it to an LED.

Thanks, David. It looks like Petzl's 6V halogen will work. That price though... $7... ouch! Do you know what the bulb life is?

Charles, I've been eyeing the Petzl Zoom Zorabelt. It's about $29 now. If it was only me, I could afford it. But I've got to equip me, my wife and two children, and I can afford $32 a lot easier than $120. Maybe some day...

Oh, and I've modified a Rayovac 3-in-1 to use 3 Nichia 8000mcd white LEDs (someday I'll put how I did it on the web and link it here), and it just isn't bright enough. I want to stick to incandescent for my main light, and keep LEDs for backup lights. I need to play around with overdriving the LEDs to see if the brightness improves...

I just recently bought a Rayovac Industrial headlight that also takes a screw base bulb a KR 4.8v 0.5a was the only marking on it. I tried puting a Petzl 6v halogen in it only to discover that the threads are different and that I can't interchange bulbs with the Petzl.

Even though this light is very close to the Peztl and is only $11.00 it's biggest shortcoming is the belt attachment and the strain relief on the battery pack. Mine has broken the wires inside the battery pack twice now from the battery pack sliding up and off my belt and dropping all it's weight on the strain relief. If you are using this light for caving I highly suggest that you make sure it will stay secure because it only takes once or twice for the wires to break inside. Anymore I just put the battery pack inside one of those waist bags with some foam rubber padding.
