Does anyone know if the new KX1 has the same voltage range as the previous KL1 head? For example, will the new KX1 run on a 3.7v rechargable as well as on the 3v primary cell? Will it also run properly on a 2-cell body with two primary cells (a total of 6v), such as on an E2E body?

The old KL1 could do all of this.

No, the KX1 has a boost circuit. Voltage from battery has to be lower than the vf of the led. At the low current to the led of the KX1, the vf of the led will probably be in the 3.2 volt range, or lower. The KL1 is replaced by the KX1 and KX2, the KX2 having a buck circuit that needs more voltage than the vf of the led to regulate, and is best run using two CR123's or two LiIon's.

I'm definitely considering a KX2 and a Leefbody for 18560(s). Or a TnC body as I think those play nice with e series heads as well. So much good stuff out there at the moment makes it hard to decide.

Someone had a chart of the new Kx2 on a single 17670 and it looked pretty impressive.

With a good low vf the KX2 should run for awhile in regulatiion with one 18650, not optimum runtime but good runtime.
