Laser Dimming question

I got my 4.99mW leadlight from zbolt.com a few months ago (when I didn't know about the pot mod, cpf, etc) and pot modded it around a month ago. It was pretty darn bright (looked like ~25mW) for around a month or so of use and then suddenly, it's output decreased by about half. And I notice that it would sometimes seem brighter and sometimes dim again randomly. Could the diode be misaligned? I have been pretty careful with it and never dropped the laser on a hard surface. Or could it be a simple case of needing new AAAs? Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'd try changing the batteries before doing anything more drastic. Power output fluctuations in green DPSS laser pointers are perfectly normal and even expected; and low batteries can make this become even more apparent.

I have the same problem with one of my Laseres, last night i canged the diode with a new one and then no dimming again. I think it comes from too long overcharge the diode.
