This is my first post and would like to say what a great site. Never knew there was such an appreciation for Candle Power. Now onto my question, I currently have a cheap probably 5mW green laser and want something with more power. I would like one that can ignite matches, pop balloons, cut electrical tape, etc. My price would be for one in the $300 range. Any suggestions would be great.

Hahaha i love it.

The best way to get a response on this forum is to ask for a recommendation. Everyone immediately suggest their favourite laser.

Let the show begin.

www.dragonlasers.com Not the best range of products but for green laser pointers with lots of oomphh, you can' t go past them. I bought mine before prices went up a while ago but still the best prices.

www.laserglow.com don't own any of their products but they are a reputable established company with some great products. Their hercules is the mother of portable lasers.

For other lasers, you'll get plenty of replies after me :bumpit:

You're typically looking at 100mW or more for those capabilities. Most of the big players have lasers that can do all the things you mentioned.

The real questions you have to answer are how you intend to use it, and what size/portability limitations do you face.

Is duty cycle important? Should it fit in your pocket? What type of power source/batteries will work best?

I would definitely get advice here before buying anything on e-bay. It is really hard to figure out what is hype and what is not.

Remember, they can "honestly" and legally sell a 5 mW laser pointer marketed as <200mW because 5 mW really is LESS THAN 200 mW.

From what ive heard the lasers are great

This company is VERY new, if you wait, a mod over at LPF is getting one shortly (within the next day i believe) and will be doing a review on it. If it works as well as the guy selling them claims this will be my next laser. it claims to have 150mw of green output. And the price is unbelieveable....$235 shipped. I would definitly wait to see what happens.

I will post a link of Senkats review as soon as he posts it.
