"Kristin Hrabar of Aberdeen, N.J., was 9 when she got stuck with the boring task of helping her dad repair the family clothes dryer. "I was holding the flashlight so my dad could see to tighten a bolt," the 17-year-old remembers. "Then I started thinking: 'If there was a way to mount a light on the nut driver, he wouldn't need me to hold the flashlight.' " Bingo.

She came up with a special nut driver, which is much like a screwdriver, only it tightens small nuts. Hers has a hollow shaft and a light mounted in the handle."

Craftsman has a similar item that is used to light sockets. However, it uses a measly incand. bulb. Maybe I should mod it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

There is an attachment for Dremel tools (I'm not sure if it is made by Dremel itself) that has white LEDs in it for lighting up your work.

And I have seen screwdrivers that have a light in them for many years.

I do fail to see any practical reason to put a laser into a hand held nut driver though.

Nothing new, although I congratulate the kid for thinking and following through all the way to market.

One of the Roto-Zips has LEDs for illumination...I can't remember which one...

I saw the Roto-Zip infomercial last year, and noticed it had white LEDs in it to illuminate the area you were cutting. I'm guessing it was the Roto-Zip 2, but I could be mistaken.

I have a rotozip with the white LEDs, they work rather well. I have used it in a completely dark garage... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
