Sorry, if this is in the wrong section, but I figured I would get a better answer here than the other electronics section.
So I've been contemplating about building a portable battery pack using a sealed lead acid battery. Basically it'll have 12v outlets and also an inverter for other items (lets say i'm charging batteries just to keep it in this section). Oh and it'll be all nicely fitted inside a pelican case, not sure which one, but something with a handle. What I want to know is if I can somehow hook it up to my car battery to jumpstart it if I needed to. Basically I want to make a portable power pack (like one's sold in retailers) incased in a pelican case. As I understand it, most pre-made portable power packs use lead acid batteries, and I'm assuming they just connect the jumper leads directly to the battery.
So can I just clamp jumper cables from the lead acid battery to the dead auto battery to jump it? I carry a set of jumper cables in my car, so it's not going to be stored/ connected to the battery at all times.
thanks
