First of all, Hi to everyone. i have quite a background dealing with dangerous stuff Webpage and now i'm thinking of expanding to include lasers as well.

Now down to buisness, i have a dead diode in a leadlight laser and was wondering if anyone knew of a suitable diode to replace it with preferably higher wattage than the original /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif, and what sort of cost would be involved.

Thanks

well, for a 350mw 808nm diode that's 5.6mm you're looking at about 50-60$ roughly. There are 500's that exist, they're in a 9mm shell though. Little more expensive but still work. Problem there is that your current leadlight brass housing won't work anymore - it'll need to be drilled out to hold the new diode and a couple of resistors on the driverboard would need to be changed to let more current through. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

would i be able to use the same crystal with that power?
also about the contrller board, does any one have any circiut diagrams?

And does it works well?
It's say 43$ for a 300mW 5.6mm diode... I will certainly ask it, I think it's worth the money (two of my 20 Leadlight 105 has a poor 125mW IR max output with 400mA current...)
