Does anyone know where I can find a multi mode circuit board that will accept at least 8.4v for 2 18650 batteries that is in the US.

I ordered one from DX and its on back order and that drives me nuts.

I dont want one that cost a ton either. Under 10 dollars would be nice

I am going to run a single ssc p4 off of 2 18650 batteries. As you all know that will be 8.4v hot off the charger. I believe that the forward voltage of the ssc p4 is 3.6v. I am not entirely sure what I need I guess.

Any help would be appreciated.

I do not know the difference between buck and boost.

Because you want to step down from (as much as) 8.4V to just 3.6V to drive the LED you want a buck regulator. A boost regulator increases the voltage, for example if you were wanting to run an LED from one or two NiMH cells.

I have been searching for the same myself. Other than the 2 at deal extreme, you could consider the KENNAN from kaidomain.

For more expensive options, you can use a SOB from the sandwich shoppe or a Fatman from taskled.

I am not sure about the CC5W but it appears it would work also. I wish there were more cheap options out there. I have both sku 7425 and 3256 on back order from DX myself.

I have used a couple of These in 2xcr123 lights, one being an old Nuwai that I stuffed a sscp4 in and they turned out alright. It really did nice in a Q5 module. The Nuwai did not turn out freaky bright but it was much brighter than the Lux III it did have, and the SSCP4 + textured reflector makes for a pretty ethereal beam pattern. I got mine from DX but considering the wait times getting them from SB in a matter of days might be worth the premium.

I am no mod master by any means and am just hacking merrily along...so YMMV.
