I decided I have to make a custom headlight for my bike. I want a small, compact floodlight that runs off of 12V. I tried to find an off-the-shelf flashlight that would run off of 12V that I could modify, but so far I haven't found one. So now I'm looking to buy bare LED on a star, and some kind of small driver puck that will take 12V and output current for the LED. Can anyone recommend where to buy such a mounted emitter and driver?

OK...InkTheWall...as I recall, you started off needing a 12 led light that would work with your 12 volt power system on your bike. Then you changed that afterwards. You added heated handlebars or something like that. We all tried to give you suggestions as to powering all this power sucking crap. And now you want to build your own light...wow...I wouldn't ever try that. And I'm guessing that I know just a little bit more about this stuff than you do. I did come up with another bike lite, but your gonna have to either just rechage it every couple of hours or come up with a cigarette adapter off you supposed 12 volt bike power system and plug in a usb type converter and then plug in the bike lite...here are other choices.

hear is something that might make mounting that harbor freight light a little easier

I, myself would not try to build my own light. There are to many variables that I do not understand. If you understand all of them, then have at it...

I hope those links work.

All the best and good luck

Do take note there's a big difference between "12v nom" and 12.0v. A buck based setup designed for "12v nom" car system with 13.8 to 15v input in mind may not work properly at 11.1-12v
