I just posted my first website (yes I'm behind the times....). I just needed somewhere to post pictures of my LED mods, so I just went ahead and started a whole site.
Currently includes the PR bulb base mod, the Mag Solitaire mod, and an Luxeon Star mod. Take a look! Feel free to give some feedback, but remember, it's still in it's infantile stages!

Doug, Nice!

I hope to have the time to combine all my efforts in to one easy to use website like yours.
Simple is good.

Suggestions...

Maybe a link for your email, unless you don't want it.
smile.gif

Links back to your home page on the sub-pages maybe?

Not many suggestions. I like it.

Updated to include "Home" links to main page and "TIPS and TRICKS". Now has SOLDERING TIPS and RESISTANCE CALCULATION explanation.

More to come....

Looks nice!
Plus AdSubtract is a great program...I have used it for some time.

Quickbeam:

Very nice! Instructional too...now I know where to look if I'm ever so inclined to experiment with my lights.

MAJOR cosmetic update. Suggestions (other than "don't do web pages for a living"
smile.gif
) appreciated.

(I can't take full credit for the design as I borrowed several elements from other sites I found out there.)

I think it's finally starting to look close to the way I originally envisioned it. Enjoy!

Will post a review of the ARC-XL when I receive it (Yes, I FINALLY bought an ARC
grin.gif
).

New URL: theLIGHTsite.tripod.com (caps not needed
smile.gif
) - not just LEDs any more!

New content: Easier navigation. Now includes a "Reviews" section (2 with more to come soon). New Mod submitted by YC - Mag Solitaire reversable mod. Feel free to check it out! Comments appreciated.

Keeping this site going is taking a lot of time and effort (even if it doesn't look like it
tongue.gif
), so if you do or don't think it's worth it, or if you have suggestions, please let me know.

Nice site Doug!

I like the solitare conversion.
I might do that with a mini mag AAA also
for someone.

Do you or anyone else have any data on the
MN21/23 12volt battery? I have data
on every other battery but that one:)

Hi there again Doug,

Just to let you and others know, i looked up
the spec's on the MN21 12v alkaline battery.
I found out it's only rated at 33mAh.
This means an led driven at 20ma will only
last at full brightness for about an
hour and a half. It's ok for a key light
i guess, but not a serious flashlight
in my opinion :)

--Al

MrAl - Sorry I didn't get back to you - I've been busy "tweaking" my site! I couldn't find any info on the battery myself - it was suggested for use in the solitaire mod in a older thread here on CPF. I'm glad you found the info you were looking for! If anyone needs a "serious" keychain light they need to go with a Photon or an ARC AAA. The Solitaire mod is just a fun little mod to do!

Hee hee, well i guess "serious" maybe isnt the best word either :)
It all depends on the application.
It's just that i was looking for a little
more time out of a flashlight i build.
One thing for sure: i would prefer a
Solitair WITH the led and 12v MN21 battery
to a Solitair with the bulb the flashlight
comes with by far!!
In the battle of LED's vs Bulbs, i think
the bulbs are losing :)

All -

If you've made a flashlight mod and would like it posted on the web, I would be happy to post it on my site.

I am now taking mods done by others and adding it to the ones I have done. If you don't have a site, this is your opportunity to "get it out there" with no extra work on your end. I need up to 6 pics (320x240 preferred, 640x480 max. please!) and a description of the parts, where to get them and the steps in how it was done. E-mail: [email protected]. Include your name for proper credit.

I'm just doing this for fun, no advertising (except the Tripod stuff which I can't help), no profits, nothing, so there's no strings attached. I am getting quite a few hits on the mod pages and would like to add to the content.

Thanks!

Sorry for my absence, all. Death in the family.

Why does this stuff always happen around the holidays...

Catching up with reviews: just posted: Review of NightStar self powered LED light!

Reviews soon to come: Inova X-5 Lithium 123 powered 5-LED light and Inova Microlight - now with EASY on-off switch - direct competition for the Photon!

Reveiws to be added eventually: Energizer double barrel 4-AAA and Energizer ArcWhite.

Inova x5 5-LED Lithium light review complete and posted.

Inova Microlight review complete and posted (Better than Photon 2 IMHO ! - check it out - now has constant on-off switch that doesn't need fingernails to turn on and VERY easy battery change!)

I can see you really didn't like that Arc White. You really let the poor thing have it.

You said just about everything short of threatening to smash it to bits with a mutilated 3-wood and flushing the pieces down a toilet; cramming the more obstinate ones down with the bowl brush.

Now that's the kind of review I like to see... at least once in awhile.

WOW! Really don't know what else to say.

Have just recently discovered the CandlePowerForum. I was attempting to compare the Surefire with other flashlights to find out if there was a reason why all of my co-workers were getting them. Seems I have found a goldmine here of American freaking ingenuity!!

Quickbeam- Your site rocks!

Just checked out the LED Museum website.
Guys this dude has done us a fantastic favor with realistic reviews outside of the manufacturers specs hype on available LEDs. Am currently working on several projects and will find his site to be invaluable in achieving sucess. Here, here!!

Good review. Some of the features of the light, despite its flaws, are good. The one fault that caused me to remove the batteries and toss it into the box reserved for free giveaways someone needy, was the switch. If it's beam is turned on, you can't just back the switch back to "off". The pressure required to switch it off moves the switch to the fluorescent position. Aiieee!
