I am building a new house and am putting in a night-lighting system throughout. It will consist of around 30 led bulbs in kick lights in the hallways and stairs and led rope lighting under the toe kick of cabinets in bathrooms and kitchen. The lights are going to be tied into the home automation system and come on automatically at dusk and off at dawn.
The bulbs I am using are the Amber A-19 http://www.bocaflasher.com/bulbs.htm

My builder thinks I am a little out there but hey! I love LED's!!

If I ever got the chance to design my own house it would use nothing but LED lights- but that will be a very long time ahead when probably LED lights will be more common anyway. Although my room is currently lit by nothing but LEDs (and TV monitors), but it`s not the same thing really....

I think those A-19 LED bulbs are the same ones as sold by Jade Mountain ( http://jademountain.com/lightingProducts/led-globes.html )- I have one on back-order though goodness knows how long it will take to get here. It was a month since I ordered it alongside a LED flashlight that was in stock at the time and nothing so far....here`s hoping it`ll show soon. Probably went by land shipping.
By the time that bulb does arrive, I`ll have probably got my web site completed-ish and fully functioning in which case I`ll offer a full review of it whenever it arrives.

Chris M I just ordered some of those same lamps from Backwoods solar for $32, and they have them in stock. They are great! They beat the Trek 7 without a doubt. Best of all they look really cool! I got both the reflector and regular lamp versions, they have identical light output, but the reflector ones don't have spill to the sides. I was hoping the regular lamps had a wider pattern, but it is still very good. You can find them at

I have two bulbs right now for testing purposes. I bought a clear bulb and a frosted bulb. I decided to go with amber because the higher light output for the amber LED and the nightlighting purpose. I prefer the frosted bulb to the clear because it casts a more even soft light although I keep the clear one around to show people because you can see all of the innards and it looks really cool. I think I paid about $25 each and got a price quote for the 25-30 bulbs I will need of about $20 per bulb.

Hey thanks Brock- I`ll have to cancel my backorder and get one of them instead, that`s a much better price. Actually I`ll probably get one of each of A-19 and reflector, just to see for myself. I think the Jade Mountain picture showed its A-19 had the LEDs angled outwards a bit though but I may be wrong- and if it was like that it may lead to discreet spots of light at a greater distance, rather than a wider flood- which may not be so good. I know LEDtronics make ones similar like that but they are more expensive and going by their white FlashLED, possibly not as bright.

I waited forever for Jade Mountain and finally gave up and cancelled my order. If you want to get the bulbs faster check with ColorCorp and talk to Dave or Bob. http://www.litemeup.com/

most of my lighting is 12v flourescent.
i converted many fixtures with thinlite ballasts.then i install 3 nicia 5600 whites.
wire them across the switch and add a 1k pot with switch.fully adjustable or off .
all this runs on a 3000 ah battery bank that is charged by solar panels.
