Has anybody attempted to upgrade the leds in one of the nite rder sol/minewt lights? It appears to be a SSC P4, so maybe its not really worth it but it would be pretty cool to see a rebel 100 or Q5 in there. Haven't opened up my sol head yet, but maybe I'll check it out this week.

U can try - but the main problem will be optic compatibility, IMO the best way will be to wait for V bin SSC – they should appear in February this year…

Hi, exactly, the optics of seould don't is valid for cree and rebel.

Know sure you that seoul V bin appear in february?? With as many lumens works this led??

Hmm... swapping to a V bin SCC would be neat; I wonder what type of improvement they would offer. Would it be comparable to a single jump cree (ie: P4 to Q2) or more like a P4 to a Q4?

It depend's what they do to achieve 120 lum @350mA - I think that these leds will have at the beginning higher Vf i.e. 3,5V @ 350mA to pump 1,225W into led so with 100 lum/w (R2 efficiency) they will achieve V bin limit.

I put a u-bin in my ur-minewt. Easy, brighter than the newest x2 version. Works flawlessly.

Did you swap the emitter only? Opened my Sol up, and to my suprise it did not appear to be star mounted but rather right to a circuit board... Makes me doubt the heat sinking of this light as well. But then, I've used it for an hour straight without a problem so...
