Hi guys,

I just 'found' my old EDC light that I'm going to relegate to being the keychain light. It's a Maglight Solitaire, single AAA.

I'm wondering if there is an LED upgrade that I could retrofit into this? Or what kind of better bulb I could use if any.

I took out the almost dead battery that was in it and replaced with new, but I think it might do better.

Any suggestions?

For the record, I'm getting both P2D and a P3D lights in a couple of weeks for EDC and pistol light respectively.

Thanks,
Paul

Yeah, They Are Quite Expensive For What They Are.

If You Are Looking To Upgrade Your Keychain light, May I Suggest The Fenix E01

A 21 Hour Runtime On One AAA Battery.

Its Only $12.50 USD.

Yeah, you're right. The E01 would be much better than trying to upgrade this old thing! No sentimentality, I just thought it might be less expensive to work with something I already had rather than getting new.

Thanks for the inputs! I appreciate it!

Cheers,
Paul

Unless the Solitaire is sentimental for some reason, it will be cheaper to get the $15 (shipped) Fenix E01. It's about 10x brighter with about 15x the runtime, for less than the cost of the upgrade.

I found it cheaper to just replace it with a Gerber tempo ($9 @ REI).

Its serviceable, but your $$$ is better spent on an E01.;)

I did!! I got it today, works fantastic! Now putting the old Soli back in the drawer!
Thanks for the inputs!

The thing is...I have several of the Solitaire in my drawer unused. Two used and two more still in packaging. I guess I will keep them for sentimental reason and go for the Fenix 01.

I've once stuffed a 3mm white LED into the solitaire along with a 10440 and a 22ohm 1/8watter crammed to the best of my ability in the tail with the spring removed, it worked pretty well actually...but I'm not sure what I did with it, so no beamshots. The 10440 current lives in my L0D-CE:grin2:
