LED Vehicle headlights nearly here...

This is the car for me...........

Audi Nuvolari

18 LED's per side - I'm guessing they're using luxIII's - 54Watts.

The 600BHP Bi-Turbo V10 motor is a bit on the underpowered side for my liking though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Those are Daytime Running Lights and their function is to be seen by other drivers, not to illuminate the road at night.

LEDs have reached the luminous flux of HID? are they kidding? their chart shows LED as approaching approx 1000lms, while D2S/D2R HID capsules put put 3200/2800lms.

The chart's for low beam.

exactly, low beam output is 2800-3200lms for HID low beam (they may also use the same capsule for highs in bi-xenon, but the capsule is producing the same amount of light, where it goes changes), which is why they spread out the light laterally so much, so that they don't hit the peak limits of brightness down range, which is goverened by DOT.

I see some problems in winter. Traditional lights generate a lot of heat that melts snow from reflector, thus making it visible. If there is no heat then lamps will be clogged by falling snow after a few kilometers ride...
