I'm a 1st/2nd shift maintenance mechanic/security and a soon to be graduating HVAC student. What I'm looking for is a decent LED that has very good spill with better than decent throw. I'm finding that what I currently have really doesn't fit my needs. Most of the lights are just to bright for up close repair work.

I am purchasing a Petzl Tikka XP headlamp in the near future but I still would like a AAA for some inspection work. The Arc is nice but I really want a AAA and/or a AA EDC that would have multi-levels including a really nice low & high option.

Suggestions?

The obvious choice might be one of the MANY creebased multilvl AA and AAA lights coming out now. The only ones I find interesting are the Fenix L1D or L2D cause they are clicky and don't have a real PITA UI as the other offerings I've seen. But if you don't mind tapping/twisting the switch all night long, you might also check out rexlight, Jetbeam MkII X(or something) and Liteflux LF2 (AAA, but not out until march).
