Let There be LOTS of Light...LOTS!

What I'm looking for is a smallish LED about the size of an Inova T3 or smaller that can produce an obscene amount of light with a decent run time. As things stand, the T3 and T4 are wonderful lights. And I love the craftsmanship and materials. They can temporaily blind assailants and light up my entire back yard.

But I'm always looking for something better. And one of the lights I've got my eye on (the one not blinded) is the Fenix P3P-CE. In "high" mode, how bright is it? And how about "turbo" mode?

I'm open for suggestions. I realize that while the P3P-CE might be technically brighter, the spot probably won't be as large because there's no reflector to speak of. Still, it looks like a great light.

All the fenix's give off a ton of light in their turbo modes, and that low is darned handy. And you'll be suprised by the spot, it's very nice sized and usable.

I think he was referring to the reflector being relatively small in comparison to the T3 and T4.

Right you are Flashaholic. I said it didn't have a reflector "to speak of." They pretty much all have reflectors, but the ones that have larger reflectors give out a much nicer spot. I've been disappointed by many of the tubular lights that didn't have a larger reflector. I'd heard that the Fenix P3P-CE did put out a lot of light, but I don't know how much when compared to the Inova T3.
A number of years ago, the police answered a call in the cul-de-sac where we lived. Ny neighbor had called them after hearing a noice on his roof. Three cruisers pulled in all lights off and I saw dark shapes running around the house. Then, on cue, everything just erupted in light. I was impressed.

Then, when the Inovas appeared, I was impressed with those. Now I'm looking for something even better, if it exists. I have a new Inova XO that puts out a respectable light for night unto six hours. Sounds like the Fenix could be a bunch of lights in one.

oh im sorry about that, i misunderstood.l in my experience, the p3dce is very bright compared to the innovas and there is no shortage in throw, i highly recommend it. bang for the buck

Somebody was modding the Coast Led Lenser with a seoul or cree, and the results were powerful....don't know if they are still doing it. There is also the seoul powered Striker VG that Battery Junction has...expensive- but real strong.

I was just going to suggest the same thing. But first ask if a modded light was acceptable. Yes, this Coast light, aka the Hokus Focus modded with a Seoul P4 is brighter than any Fenix. It's estimated to be around 200 lumens considering current draw to the P4. And most all the light goes into the beam. It's like a wide search light. The light is a little different. If your not familiar with it, have a looky at these threads.

First of all, its P3D-CE not P3P-CE.

Third, even an LOD-CE could blind a person when used on HIGH and strobe mode.

There is a 20% increase in throw dis tance, 300% in total light output. Beam center brightness goes up 50%.

One way of selecting a brighter light than the Inova T3 is to go to the output and throw chart, sort by throw or total output which will give you a list od lights with better throw or better total output. Then check each light for size & price.
