Here's another cheap pocket light.. This one is available at Longs' among other places. The price was 11.99. The reason I bought it was because the aspherical lens looked pretty good.
This light has a post protruding from the rear to which a split ring is passed. This prevents tail standing, but could be filed down. Who's going to tailstand this light?
Opening this flashlight is easy. The tail unscrews to replace the battery. The head unscrews to access the led. To activate the light, one tightens the head/lens section until the pieces make good contact. The tailcap does not act as a switch unless you count opening it and taking the battery out.
The beam of this light is comparable to the original inova x1. It is a spot light that creates a 'moon' when shined at the wall. The x1 is much brighter.
However, a brighter light is not always better. If you're looking for a small focused light for being stealthy or unobtrusive, this light might be the one to get.
Of course the first thing I did was paint some glow inside the plastic reflector.
This light is good for what it does. Its dim output and cheap chinese construction might turn away some. Others might find a use for it.
