Sorry if this is a repeat, I haven't been around much lately.

Is there a chance that we can see an extreme high output l/a for the M100?
Is there enough interest at CPF to make it worth it?

Thanks

I believe Mark of Lumens Factory has posted, some months ago, that there are no plans to produce such a lamp. The 36mm and 45mm heads are where the action is.

I am one who would be interested in such lamps for the M100 turbohead. As I see the world, it is one of the few alternatives to the SF KT4 turbohead. To be perfectly honest, even though I really like my WE M100, I am considering going to a Leef+KT4 solution. My reason is that for outdoor usage (search/rescue, tracking downed game in the dark, bump in the night investigation, etc.) I very much prefer a throw light versus one with more flood.

If you go with the WE M100, you really only have two bulb choices: 9V 200 bulb lumens and 12V 300 bulb lumens. In order to use the LF bulb assemblies or the new Cree lamp, you have to buy an M90 head, which you can use in place of the M100 turbohead.

for S&R have you considered an HID, probably more appropriate for long burn times. Something like an AE or Boxer maybe.

Hello mcodod.

Yes, I have considered the HID option. I am at the point where I am evaluating what I want to do --- and the HID is on my list. The problem is that the HID's that I like are very expensive. Sigh.

Right now I am trying to decide between the Leef M body-KT4 route; use my existing WE 100x but get the M90 head and the various lamp options; and the HID approach. For now, I am leaning toward the Leef solution. Before I do anything I will have to sell my shelf queens to raise money.

By the way and a bit off topic: I like my Fenix P2D light, which so far seems to do just about all that I have asked of it. It has replaced a SF E2E as my EDC light.

Regards.

Slight variation on this topic

Does anyone have experience with both the m100 and a surefire m3?

After dropping the bulb out and looking around it appears that the m100 bulb is very close to this : http://www.lumensfactory.com/product_detail.php?id=44. I'd like to know why this is not going to work before I spend the money on the bulb and shipping. I guess I automatically assumed it won't work because I haven't heard of this combo before and I can't be the first one with this idea, can I?

All comments appreciated.

Hi fellas

I did get an M3 bulb but instaflashed it.

I then picked up one of the new LF M6 700 lumens bulbs. The bulb iris is too small, but it only took a little dremel work to be able to fit the bulb in. That created a very unsatisfactory beam with giant doughnut. A little more dremeling allowed the pedestal of the M6 lamp assembly to get through. I was able to tighten the head down enough to get a good clean hotspot. In fact I could overtighten it so that the hotspot started to go a little wide again.

I don't have beam shots, but I can give you a beam description as compared to a stinger xthp with WA 1111. At one meter the hotspots were similar. The xthp's was just over 2 inches and the m100's was a little under two inches. The beam of the xthp was bright out to 72 inches in diameter and then was very dim and probably unusable. The M100 was bright out to 88 inches in diameter and then dropped off to nothing.

I had also picked up an old lutron lx101 lux meter and wanted to do some tests. Unfortunately it didn't exactly make sense and the numbers seemed to jump around a little. The best numbers I got follow and maybe useful as a comparison:
(all readings taken at 1 meter)

Dorcy Super 1 Watt(1x123).....................960 lux
MTE 1AA SSC-P4..................................1040 lux
Police Xenon Rugged from Dae(2x123)......6000 lux
WE Raider 9D mini turbo w/LF 320L.........13,800 lux
WE M90 w/LF 700L D36........................25,000 lux
WE M100 w/LF 700L M6........................34,000 lux
Stinger XTHP w/WA111.........................36,000 lux

I am really liking this M100 setup. Incredible throw, good useful flood and an hour runtime on 18650's. The only thing I haven't done is a heat test but I will let you know how that works out in a few days.

Your choice of course,

but I do have the standard bezel also, which runs a 700L D36 from lumens factory. If you sacrifice runtime and go 3x150 instead of 3x168 you end up with a really bright light/mini baton that is reasonably pocketable (inside coat pocket anyway).

Either way, gotta love Wolfeyes !!!

Agree with you innerlight the 3x150 is the one to choose for the m90. Keeps size down and still retain a good run-time.
I would like to see a more powerful bulb option for the m100 bezel along the same lines as the EO-13 for the m90.
Would definately buy both if they ever became available.
