LH \"extended\" mod for 18650 and cell-phone button

Again with the help of the Nordic god of laths, Wotan - I might mix something up here, slightly /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif - I got my LH extended to accept 2400ma 18650 LiIons and also got one of Dons bronze cell-phone-buttons added as an additional carrying option - I like the result quite much and want to share and also thank Wotan for his great work with this.

diggdug,

as mentioned CPF-er Wotan made it for me on his lath - before posting I asked him if its OK as I already expected other to go like "PayPal ready" and he said yes so he might be OK doing some more or even a small run, lets see, I´ll check with him on this - BTW - the only fgeature missing is the HA but this is always a problem here in germany ....

Hey Charlie, you just managed to ask the one question I can't answer.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I haven't seen any CR2 sized Li-ions available.. Sorry. I think AW may have some leads though..

What type of battery is that I see?
I have a 168a pila. I think that it has the protection built in. Do they make batteries without the protection that have more capacity?
If so are there any problems charging them on the Pila charger that came with my Lionheart?
Will the Lionheart automatically shut off before damaging unprotected cells?
Where could I get some?

The LH can run with cells that don't have overdischarge protection. The LH driver will turn off when the input voltage drops to 2.7V (nominal) which is a very safe level for a li-ion cell.

I wouldn't use the Pila charger on anything other than a Pila cell. The Pila cell has the charge termination built into it, so imo the Pila charger is not 'safe' for other li-ion cells.

Here is the "extended maker"
My problem of rebuilding the LH extension is:
I don´t have a LH.
So i first have to found a way, who keep sure that the thread are fits.
Another way is only, interested parties send their LH to me.But that is more expensive for the shipping and i don´t prefer this way.

i had never done any lathe work before, so pardon my ignorance, but would it have been easy to duplicate the extender once you make the prototype?

the problem is the tolerance of the thread.
There is a upper and a lower tolerance. If i make a new one, i can´t try the fit.(Not the diameter, but the depth of the thread).I have no measuring tool to control the tolerance.

Don`t know if it`s necessary to send the LH from USA to Germany `cause the shipping back and forth is expensive and customs may charge you.
May be it`s ok if we take one of the LH`s that are in Germany already (# 149 Wrangler /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)?
