I have looked at the lightwave 4000 and th 3000 models and i want more info about the 3000 C cell. I held the 4000 and it was quite heavy. I want to know who has the 3000 and what they think about it. Thanks !!!

I just got a 3000 on Tuesday from Brightguy.com. (great service by the way!). Without batteries it is surprisingly light. Inserting the batteries more than doubles the weight but it still feels light and manuverable. The quality of the workmanship seems good with the barrel sturdy and well padded. The large push button on/off switch is easy to locate in the dark and has no wobble. The only knocks I have of it so far are that the batteries rattle around unless I push a thin strip of cardboard in with them, and it seems like the leds are not set far enough back in the barrel to fully protect them from damage. I am a newby with LED flashlights so can not comment on the preceived brightness of the product nor can I comment on the battery drain.

The LW 3000 weighs 6.5 oz. without batteries, 13.7 oz. with batteries. By the way, this is my favorite product out of all of our different models. If you would like to see some additional information, the web site should be updated now to include the LW 3000 stats. www.longlight.com

golfjim, does it seem sturdy and "rugged" like they say? What was the $$ to your door from brightguy?

The purchase price was $49.95 and the shipping was reasonable but since I had other items purchased with it I do not know what the shipping on this item alone would be. It did come very quickly - within a couple of days after ordering. I just recently saw the same flashlight advertized on www.tripleaughtdesign.com for only $38.95. I have dealt with this company before and they have quite a variety of products but not many lights. I was also impressed with their customer service when I bought from them.

As far as its ruggedness: while I did no testing (no drops, no blows to anyone's heads. etc.), the quality of the ABS and rubber coating was seamless so I would expect it would stand up to alot of abuse. The rim around the leds was also thick and substantial and I would not expect any damage there if dropped from a couple of feet on a hard surface. Once again, I have not performed any testing and will not unless someone wants to give me one to play around with.
