CNR ...... :welcome:
Don't tear your LF5XT apart yet ..... please read my suggestion first .
The button pressure should be the same as the 2XT . It should not be hard to press . Both models use a momentary micro-switch . The metal button presses on the button of the micro-switch . The switch only requires momentary contact to function . That applies to the LF2XT and the LF5XT . The momentary contact principle is what you need to understand to operate these lights .
Try light taps , instead of presses . ( you don't have to press and hold it ) I hope you know that . I can't imagine why your 5XT button would be harder to press than your 2XT .
You're not physically pushing and moving a piston sleeve like in a Nitecore D10 . The 2xt , 3xt and 5xt all use the micro-switch .
However - the operational UI is different on the 5XT , than the other two. On the (3xt) and the 2XT , if you press and hold the button , the light will come on .
But on the 5XT , (1st model that I have) , ( I have mine programed for 5 different levels ) - if you press and hold for 1 second , the light comes on in HI , and goes off when button is released . But if it's off , and you just press the button for half a second and then release - it won't come on . It HAS to be TAPPED just briefly .
To make the light come on , and stay on , you just TAP the button . To go to the next level , TAP the button 2 quick times , 2 more TAPS to go to the next level , 1 TAP to turn it off .
I think your problem may be that you're pressing the button for half a second - then releasing . The LF5XT works by TAPS ...... not presses .
Try that and see if you see a difference in operation , please .
