I realise that this question has probably been asked far to many times before. but it seems to be the only option before me.
The cells I'm looking for are the 123's
confused.gif
(scorpion), and the cheapest i've found them in england £5.00 for 1 panasonic
tongue.gif
or £5.99 for 1 energizer e2's?.
@ £12.00/hour for a decent set of batteries, within two days use I will have spent more on batteries than I did on the flashlight.

If anyone has an Idea of where I can get cheaper batteries (in england), whether it be on the web or a store over here. Please let me know

[there is an " , " at the end of the link above which has to be removed before the link will work]

Dixons sometimes do a sale: three for two on Duracell Ultra Twin packs working out at £3.33 each.

Another source is SpyCatcher in London which sold me the 12B for £40 which again is £3.33 each, but you get a backup light and a storage case.

People in the USA really I feel shouldn't complain about prices cos here in the UK, we get overcharged for almost everything!

thanks alot guys, now I may actually be able to use my lite, for practical purposes.

On another note does anyone know where to get AAAA's (other than "varta"), to be honest I haven't looked yet.

Thanx once again

Don`t know how much use this may be, but if you`re looking for "specialist" batteries why not try an electronic components supplier. My personal choice is Maplin Electronics, they have a printed catalogue and web site at http://www.maplin.co.uk . They carry all sorts of things but of relavence to this post- Lithium batteries- (sold as photo batteries) the CR123As. While I`m here, they also have the coin cell types for Photons, etc. They also have (Varta brand) alkaline AAAAs.
Prices aren`t amazing (well it`s the UK after all!) but if you order over £25 it`ll get sent for free, usually next day. Volume discount prices are avaliable if you buy many at once.

Thanx again, I have tried maplin but they only seem to have Varta, Does anyone know if these batteries are any good

I was just told about these guys....they have the best lithium prices I`ve seen so far in the UK....

Sorry, no AAAAs that I can see though. I reckon those Varta alkaline ones from Maplins are OK but I`ve not needed to get any so far. I do have a couple Streamlight Stylusses coming soon though so I reckon it won`t be long before I do need some and will get to find out.

You could always dissect a Duracell 9 volt battery if you are desperate for 8 AAAA's

Not necessarily in all 9 volt batteries though, look what I found while pulling apart a dead Zinc Chloride cell out of curiosity (one of the cheap supermarket brand ones). I didn`t dare remove the plastic shrink-wrap insulation cos those odd little flat cells had started corroding....

I reckon it`s different in the Alkaline cells though- but I thought it was 6 AAAAs inside one of them, not 8? I`d pull a dead one of them apart to see but I can`t find any nearby.

. You have to be careful though doing that don`t you? I read somewhere else on these boards that some might split open or leak once the outer casing is removed.

Just finally found me a dud Duracell 9 volt and yes- what did I find inside but.....

So it`s safe to say Duracells have AAAAs inside that are useable

. Other brands however, may differ.....

Something I just noticed that may impair their usefulness in place of "proper" AAAAs is that the polarity appears to be opposite! That meaning the button end of them appears to be negative not positive as with normal ones, so you`d have to watch what way round they went in if you`re using a polarity conscious light like an LED one. And some lights may not work because of internal mouldings at the positive contact- you may need to put a blob of solder on the flat positive end to get them to make contact. When my Streamlight Stylusses arrive I`ll pull another one that`s not quite so run down and try them out.

Chris Out of intersest How much did u pay 4 your stylus / where did u get them ?

Does anyone have any experience with these batteries? Sounds like a worthwhile investment if they are fairly powerful

I got my Stylusses from "jrac1" on Ebay (from Elizabethville, PA, USA), orange stylus 2, Buy-It-Now price for US$14 and white Stylus 3 for $15. Is that a good price to pay? I`ve seen them much more than that but forget where now.
Also bought some ASP Aspen(white)/Sapphire(blue)keychain lights and a Streamlight Syclone incandescent/led light from him too. Not here yet, it`ll be more than a week probably cos they`ve not been sent yet (paid by MO) but seems like a good reliable seller to me!

U may already know this place But I get most of my stuff, (Any knives some torches) from a place in Cardiff called "Heinnie Haynes" they seem to stock most surefire stuff and have the stylus and scorpion (i think my 3 cell was about £17) postage is always free. And staff are very freindly. any way address is www.heinnie.com you may not find stuff on there but phone and ask they mostly have or can get what I as for
