The following link provides a surprisingly good read on the Lithium Manganese (LIMA) cells.

They make these abuse tests on their battery packs and it must not be hazardous.

* Crash tests: a fully-charged battery is crushed with a ten-ton hydraulic press
* Nail tests: a nail is hammered right through the case of a charged battery until it comes out of the other side. This leads to the maximum possible number of battery cells being short-circuited.
* Overcharge tests: the battery packs are overcharged with 42 V at 7.5 A until the cells are destroyed.
* Short-circuit tests: the main contacts are short-circuited without the safety circuit.
* High-temperature tests: the aforementioned tests are undertaken on a 300° F pre-heated battery.

Pretty incredible. Anyone knows where I can get these type of cells?

Thanks,
Mo

name brand is Emoli, and they can be found in various power tools, look for Emoli cells being sold around here in BST and various hobby places online. they come in 18650 and 26670 size IIRC.

LOL. So....this is the Emoli? I better pay better attention to the Emoli. Aren't these the ones in the powertool battery packs? Anyways, I need to go and search out the capacities, cost etc - I need to build a pack.

If anyone has leads or more info, would appreciate links. I'll do a search but may miss the most important sites.

Thanks,
Moses

Thank you! Did quite a bit of reading. I need about 30 of these cells. Guess I'll be getting those Milwaukee 18V or 28V packs....:)

Anyone know the cheapest place to get these?
