The stars finally aligned so we were able to gather the entire family around the table for a belated Christmas, pre-New Year's Eve dinner.

Our sons prepared lasagna and a green bean dish. I mixed a Caesar salad for the effort.

Only looked back a couple of pages and I already know this isn’t going to compare but it’d been a while since I’d had these.
The good old cheese kransky with some sweet spiced gherkins and mustard.
Beer would be perfect but it wasn’t the time so some dry ginger ale went nicely.

Home alone so for dinner it's a steak with some chillies from the garden and a lemon.
White ghost pepper, a very ripe Yaki Blue (goes from dark purple to brick red-ish) and a little Carolina reaper.

Believe it or not but the SR1 was more slicey than my steak knife so it got to cut the condiments. I added more chili as I got through the steak except for the reaper, half a reaper is more than enough for me generally.

And while we're at it. When the cat's away, the mice will get into sh!te that they shouldn't. I'll get chastised later by she who must be obeyed 😄

Penni's first snow.
When giant flakes were falling she was trying to out run them. She didn't know what to think. Then she began to play in the stuff. She'd bolt in the doggy door and bump the others who were sleeping. They'd raise up enough to let her know no thanks, we're good. She'd bolt back out, play a while and bolt back in "c'mon guys you're missing the fun". All told she had mad fun for about an hour romping, eating snow, sliding, and just enjoying life.
It was her living the good life.

My two favourite breweries and they’re both impossibly far away. Absolutely fantastic beers.

Just finished the Old Hooky just then. I’m onto a Haymaker (same brewery).

Weihenstephaner and Hook Norton Brewery, I love you.

This past weekend I went to an Elks Bike Run fund raiser for Veterans. On the way we stopped at the Alternate Ending brewery where I enjoyed a bottle of "Bark All Day". It was delicious!
Strong roasted coconut forward, Imperial Stout, with cacao, and vanilla.

Due to covid, I lost some of my sense of smell, and therefore taste, so I need strong flavors to be able to appreciate them.
