LOD Q4 Alternative?

Re: LOD Q4 Alternative

I just ordered an LODQ4 yesterday but would love a single mode keychain blaster. Are those buckle lights comparable in output vs LOD on HI?

My Buckle and LOD Q4 (on high) both show 3300 overall lux using the same NiMH battery.

I was looking for the same thing and now I just use my LOD Q4 with 10440 battery and only use the first mode (which is medium or primary). With the 10440, medium is slightly brighter than high on NiMH and goes for around 50 minutes.

For the original poster, if you're looking for the same specs as the LOD why do you not WANT the LOD. It really isn't that expensive for it's performance and reliability! I'd suggest saving for another couple of weeks and buying the LOD.................you'll thank me

Re: LOD Q4 Alternative

I am doing the same as cv3po. The 10440 is great for shock value and as long as you don't blast it on turbo too much the LED module stays cool enough.

There are a couple of $15 one-mode lights on dealextreme, but they are p4's and just don't look like anything special like the L0D

Yowzer! 10440 Medium becomes brighter than High on Nimh? This I gotta see! Just ordered some 10440's and a Nano charger from AW. Thanks for the tip!

Re: LOD Q4 Alternative

What is the best (cheaper) alternative to this light. Also the most comparable in performance to it as well. Thanks.

Been looking for the same thing.
Guess that rather than spending $10-$20 for a light, which later I might(most probably) get the L0D.

Just that now I am waiting for Fenix to come out with a Q5 or R2 L0D..
Abit disappointed when the E01 came out. Guess that for another Fenix using AAA to beat the L0D is going to take some time..

It already uses the Q4, what are you waiting for?

Re: LOD Q4 Alternative

Just get the Lod you wont regret it, I regret not getting it first time and gettin the Kd ssc buckle light that turned out to be crap.

Wait until you see it on high using a 10440! I believe it puts out something like 150+ lumens! All that from a light the length and width of a pinky finger.

Re: LOD Q4 Alternative

Yep....I run both my LOD CE and LOD Q4 on 10440's and HOLY BAT CRAP!!!! I never believed so much light could possibly come out of something that small. It definitely rivals some of my bigger lights. You won't believe it, till you see it for yourself.

Re: LOD Q4 Alternative

Well, the LOD R80 is an alternative, though not cheaper. I picked it for the Rebel emitter over the Q4. I know that the Q4 is marginally brighter, but not necessarily more useful as I like the tint of the Rebel. Both are good lights.

Re: LOD Q4 Alternative

I'm sure most people already know but you can convert the lod to clicky with the streamlight microstream. I run my lod with the streamlight body and clicking instead of twisting comes in handy sometimes. The microsteam is pretty cheap at batteryjunction too. This is especially handy if you have an lod where you have to twist the head especially hard to turn it on.

All of my LOD heads are butter smooth to operate but I'm still interested in the microstream body. It kinda fell from my to do list but I think I'd like to do this. Are the other modes accessed by soft touches to the tailswitch?.....I can't remember.

Thanks :)

They would be if it's a reverse clicky, if it's a forward clicky you'd need to soft press till you get to the mode you want then click.
