does yours have tooling marks? mine does.

I noticed this on my new e2o. It doesn't seem to affect performance, but the o-ring didn't come with one of those washers, so the bezel pushes it out into the clip slot, thus rendering the waterproofing worthless. I called SF and have one of those plastic washers on the way.

i expect more from the most exspensive lights on the planet.

i got a blowoff email from them stating it doesn't affect the function.

there's that great customer service again.

tkl, the most expensive light on the planet not even close! It could be considered not understanding the customer's needs if you were not treated how you have been.

I have a mate who often appears to be more satisfied when he is unhappy.

It may be a strange question, but what did you expect the reply to say?

Thanks for any help you can give me regarding this matter.

Respectfully,

Al

is there another 2 cell that costs more? well, besides the A2.

i was just curious if anyone else had poor tooling inside their light.

tkl,
I have tooling marks on the inside of my E2, if that helps any. And my head doesn't fully cover the O-ring either. Since it hasn't really affected anything, I don't worry about it. But I know how you feel, I was a little disappointed in Surefires too. I wouldn't have even mentioned it, but everyone here raves about Surefire quality, I just didn't think one of the most expensive lights (and yes, they are one of the most expensive lights for it's size) would have these sort of problems. I mean, none of my maglights have ever had any problems like this.

What does it matter?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">It doesn't really matter to me personally, but then I don't understand why would a few scratches on the anodize matter? Or a perfectly round beam? I think some people just have a higher expectation than others. As long as it puts out light, I'm usually happy

no, i dislike being unhappy. i call it like i see it. you always seem to "spin" whatever anyone says about sf if it's negative.

tkl, of course I can!

I meant no offense.

Several of the SureFire 'M95' varients are more expensive. The M952PN is $279 at Sable Co.
The more standard M952SU06 is $265.

The Classic 673T is $303. I guess that's the price you pay for having an Steyr Aug and needing that WeaponLight for it?!

What's the price for an A2 now? $150 I've seen on CPF this evening. It's half the price of one of SureFire's most expensive 2 cell models!

How's this for spin?
"You could have two A2's for that price - what' amazing value!"

Everything is relative, but somethings are more relative then others...

Hey, don't forget the M2! $150 last I checked. It is a two cell light. I have one by the way, and It doesn't have tooling marks inside, nor do any of my other surfires.

i agree with bwcaw. that's why i sold my E2e and decided to get an M2. i handled someone else's M2, and the E2e's fit and finish doesn't match up to the M2's. i think the M2 represents surefire's quality much better than the E2e/E2o series does.

size15, none taken.

you have an excellent knowlege of sf and i haven't a clue what the h*** you're talking about!
grin.gif
what's an M95? a weaponlight?

i forgot about the M2. i had one for awhile, the beam was narrow close up and it felt like a brick in my pocket. i favor the E2E. jmo and ymmv.

Jackblades,
Not to be a smarty-pants, but my E1 does have a remarkably shiny interior!

Not quite mirror-like, but pretty reflective; just a hint of the "rainbow" look you get from Iridite "anodizing". Must be the luck-of-the-draw with regards to finish.

tkl,

The M95 (or MU95) is one of SureFire's best selling products from what I've heard. We can discuss WeaponLights in another thread if you'd like to start one?

I sometimes think that you come across as too biased towards Surefire? tkl's comments are his perspective of an issue he feels warrants raising in this forum. Your knowledge of the Surefire product range is as almost everyone here is aware almost legendary but IMHO I have noticed a perhaps unfair bias towards them in this and other posts. Perhaps your knowledge of and friendship with PK and other Surefire staff make you feel uncomfortable criticising them?
I am firm believer that criticism of a commercial product whether good or bad allows an objective evaluation to take place. This ultimately will be of benefit to the product manufacturer by allowing strengths and weaknesses to addressed.

I mean no offence but I feel tkl has a point and you IMHO seem to have shown unfair bias towards his post?

I tend to use my Surefire flashlights when it is dark, and I want to see.

I don't spend much time if any, looking through the inside of the body for tool marks.

As long as I can get the batteries to go into the body, I am pretty much satisfied.

Can anyone tell me, do tool marks inside the body of a Surefire flashlight degrade or improve the performance?

Doug: I tend to show bias toward all of tkl's posts. I am trying to stay neutral on this one.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Tombeis,

If the tool marks are of a certain helix, they may be there for convection cooling of the batteries in HOLA drive

I don't think these parts were intended to get in the publics hands

OK I can't resist any more. I often have tkl's response. I expect particular attention to detail when I purchase a premium 'item'. Just because tooling marks are not visible on the barrel does not mean they will not irritate the hell out of me.

Imagine if we had a competing product (E2E class) that cost $10-30 extra but offered the smooth internal finish and other fine points that speak of better tolerances and attention to detail. I certainly would plunk down my $115 for the privilige. That's not to say that if the E2E were to offer these I would be OK with a price increase. I am only speaking relatively.

Cheers.
