I just registered a domain, now I am looking for a good deal on a web host. I noticed several of you guys have pages and wanted to know if you had any great deals.

So far I looked into it and found these as my top 2 contenders.

1) Addr.com http://www.addr.com/services.htm
The buisness I work for and my bosses home page is through here.

2) Amhosting.com http://www.amhosting.com/virtual.php
I read good reviews about this one.

Both have $8 a month (the price is right

) plans with plenty to get me started. Any better out there?

I use addr for my other stuff. Great prices. But I have this forum on Aschweb because I need reliablity. Asch has two backbones to the web. It was hairy getting through their switch from one to two backbones. Some of the old members will remember that. But now we're rock solid. I can't remember the last time CPF/Aschweb was down. Plus if I need something answered right now I get an answer. Whether through email or the phone.

I can't say that about addr. Although you do get an autoresponder from them right away. Sometimes that's all you get. I've tried calling once. I gave up and emailed them.

There is a list somewhere on the web. Of all the webhosts. I'll go look for it. I think it rates them too.

Thanks Papasan,

but it looks like I'd pay extra for things like CGI and Perl scripting.

This is going to be a learning experience for me. I already have several free web pages (check my signature) now I want to put them all in one place without any limitations from the "free" type services. I don't mind paying a small monthly fee, as long as I can have full access to all the tools a webmaster (or webapprentice in my case) can use.

Awesome, thanks for the list David.

My boss said the same thing about addr. Calling them is no good, you have to email.
