Looking for a new torch to replace a P3D.

Hiya. Being a muppet, I recently managed to lose my p3D, leaving me without a torch. This is a bit annoying.

Can anyone recommend a replacement? I liked the P3D, (it was one of the old versions), especially the hi power mode, but mostly used it at full 'normal' brightness. I would buy another one, except that having had one already, I feel like I should try something else.

So what sort of recommendations can people give? So far I'm basically looking at the RAW NS, and would like a few choices to pick between. Something that comes with a rechargeable battery is especially appealing. I'd also prefer it if the price didn't go above 50 GBP.

So, any ideas?

Cheers

can you get an Olight M20 for that price in GB? use 18650 great throw and spill, very solid light

I can get an olight m20 for about 55 quid. Is this the best alternative? I liked the look of the orb because it was small, and the p3d was pretty good sizewise too.

Something that actually comes with a charger and a rechargeable battery for that price would be cool though.

Cheers

So, am I better off with an M20, a jetbeam II, a RAW NS or a P3d 30? These seem to be the options which I can get hold of in the uk which have caught y eye so far.

Any advice is very welcome.

I just compared a P3D Q5 against the M20 premium, tonight as a matter of fact. There is no comparison as far as throw goes... The M20 beats it handily.. Especially at around 200' and over.. The tint is also outstanding - Just a little on the warm side, compared to the cooler P3D.

But, the P3D Q5 continues to satisfy me due to its very compact form factor. I just haven't seen many lights that are that small and plain looking that really put out the lumens when needed. So it stays with me as a "dress" light when the M20 would be completely inappropriate for dress attire. The P3D just slips into my vest pocket and stays there unless it's needed. It's smaller than a good cigar. This is one of those situations where I don't want aggressive knurling as it catches on clothing and anything else that's in the pocket with it. It's as smooth as a baby's butt..

Get an EagleTac from 4-7s with the CPF discount. You won't look back to Fenix after using one of those little beasts...

I can't seem to find a uk supplier for EagleTac products - a search for 4-7s turns up nothing on google?

And at the moment the It's probably down to P3d0 Vs the Orb Raw NS, as I'm liking a slightly sleeker form factor.

Any more ideas?

Cheers for all the help,

Ah, thanks for the tip. I'm afraid uk shipping would still be kinda on the expensive side. Why are eagletec better than fenix then? And are there any jetbeams I should be looking at?

Shipping? What Shipping?

4-7sevens/EagleTac-Store/Fenix-Store has Free-Shipping Worldwide included with every purchase you make.

Why are them better than Fenix? Perhaps you should start reading the tons of topics and reviews about them in the LED section, in the Reviews section and at major flashlight reviews blog or website. They are even in YouTube...

It's things like that that should teach me to use my eyes.

Cheers.

Out of interest, if im looking for p3d-like levels of performance, which one would you say to go for?

EDIT: by the looks of it, he doesn't sell the newer p3ds, only the older models. It's a pity, as I like their form factor, which is why i'm considering the p3d0 and the Orb.

While there are not any pictures yet the thought of the EX20 has me looking forward to it. David hinted it was coming, no idea when though.

The Jet III pro ST runs on a single 18650, and is *similar* in size to a P3D.... But it will only run on an 18650. It is optimized for flat regulation on an 18650, but as a result does not support the higher input voltage of a pair of CR123s.

Agreed, the Eagletac T10L has the same restriction. However, would it not be OK to use a single CR123 3.7v cell and a CR123 spacer? the voltage should be the same.

To my thinking, the same should be true for most 2xAA lights and use of a Li-Ion 3.7v cell. Simply use a single 14500 Li-Ion cell and an AA spacer.

Correct?

For 1x18650 lights, in a pinch, a single 3.7V RCR123 could be used with a dummy cell... but considering that the combined cost of a RCR123 and a dummy cell is about the same as an 18650.... bleh....

Some 2AA lights would work with 3.7V input, some will not. Depends on the circuitry used. Best way to know for sure if the same company is selling a 1xAA light using the same "head" unit that is listed as compatible with a 3.7V cell, otherwise, assume it's not compatible until you have confirmation from somewhere. The 2xAA Fenix lights would NOT support a 3.7V cell any better than their 1xAA and 1xCR123 lights (loss of low modes, direct drive, potential damage as reported by some users etc etc).

Ever consider a Nighcore D20? It is pretty sturdy and robust.
