i had a similar problem some months back. found an excellent solution which worked wonderfully for my application.

i purchased a FiveMega 2.5" Throwmaster bezel/reflector/heatsink combo. it replaces the bezel, lens, and reflector of a MagLite (C or D sized).

FiveMega is a big name on CPF and i've made several purchases from him for various items - wonderful service with NO problems whatsoever in any of our transactions; relatively fast delivery with no "crabs" on my part.

sorry, i don't have a link to his sales Thread where i'm currently at. just search CPF for FiveMega and/or Throwmaster and hopefully you'll find the sales Thread.

just reread your Post. noticed the term "LED". i have modded a number of MagLites (AAA, AA, C, and D sized). when using LEDs, i haven't found the need to use heatsink. i'm sure that it would help, but am not sure that it is absolutely necessary. sure, according to Quickbeam's FLR website, the output drops noticeably after ~15minutes (IIRC) of continuous use due to thermal issues. so, if long continuous burn with little-to-no dropoff in output is a requirement, then a heatsink is advisable.

however, you can begin without the heatsink or ThrowMaster and see how it goes, and keep looking for the heatsink or purchase a ThrowMaster later on to handle longer burntimes.
