Looking to buy some gifts for friend and Botach has the G2 Nitrolin for $29.00 and the Streamlight Scorpion for $25.00 right now. I have used Botach in the past and have had good luck. Fortunately I only live 50 miles from them and usually get things with 2-3 days. Opinions positive and negative about the lights.. What is the best source for 123 batteries, looking to buy 20-30 batteries right now for all my lights. How did this become an addiction, fortunately my girlfriend thinks it cute...

It's really anyone's guess how did it become an addiction. But the important thing is that it DID become an addiction which you really enjoy.

If the people you are giving the lights to are not going to use the lights a lot, you might consider the UK 2L. $26 at Brightguy.com.

Even tho the beam isn't as nice as the Scorpion, it's probably the one light besides my SF M2 that I would say you could count on big time.

The longer burn time would be good if your giftees are not flashoholics willing to spend money on 123A cells.

Give the SL Scorpion as gifts and get the G2 for yourself.

I am also going to give them 4 extra batteries for each light. My friend are also into nice gear and would appreciate something of quality..

Any tips for inexpensive 123 batteries??

Botach has toshiba 123's for $30.00 for 20 batteries, seems like a good deal and I am already going to buy some items so I will save with the shipping. Has anyone used Toshiba 123's??

I just got the Botach 29.00 G2 deal. A very nice light but it has the elongated hot spot others have mentioned in these boards. I't only noticable close up though, and this is NOT a close-up light. (Warranty?)
I've had good luck with the cheap 123's from Bydusa.com. They're GE/Sanyos, I think. Or if you can still get into Grifts Duracell DL223 group buy in the BST forum, and if you want to break them up, you can end up with 50 123's for about .66 each.

One thing I've found with giving lights as gifts, if there are kinda into it like you are than a light that has a short run time and uses the more expensive 123's is ok. Otherwise, if they are regular joes, they will be disappointed in the shorter life span and after they use up the extra spares you give them, they will toss the light into a drawer and never use it again cause they won't spend money like that on batteries or don't want to bother with having to find "special battreies". I've gotten great mileage out of giving average shmoes a 4AA light with some throw, they're so impressed in the small size vs. output, and this can lead to getting them hooked too [and buying up your older/unwanted stock].
