Low voltage high current bulbs?

I am not sure this is the right place, but:

I may be able to cheaply get some A123 26650 cells. I think it should be possible to squeeze 2 of them in a 2D Maglight (that i have around already).

Which would give about 6V to the bulb, with lots of possible (Well, they are rated for 70A peak, 40A continuous).

I am aware that high current isnt really a nice think (as all those ohm losses add up), but still: Is there a reasonably powerful bulb for that low a voltage?

That's funny to see this topic title. I know lots about higher voltage/high current & moderate voltage/high current, but never even thought about low voltage/high current bulbs to know if much exists that would be useful/practical.

When I contemplate your category, I'm thinking <9V & >15-20A. I sincerely hope there are not any good choices in this range! LOL! I already know too much about hotwire bulbs. I think this would make my head explode.

The Welch Allyn 01160 lamp is a 6 volt lamp that will take 6.6 and not blow. But it isn't as powerful as the philips lamp mentioned. Whiter at 6 volts, though.

However, there is a 6 volt 9 amp (!!!) Vector spotlight lamp that you might look into. I've never even held one, let alone tested one, and the pictures I've seen have shown it with an unwieldly base on it. But still. 55 watts at 6 volts is pretty crazy. The filament must be way thick in that bad boy.

Something to think about.

I've been thinking the same recently and THIS is the only 6V, high current, bi-pin bulb I can find. It's very likely a T3.5 sized bulb so the hole in the reflector would be rather large. Besides the above, the only other option I can imagin is to dismantle a 55W 6V H3(PK22s) bulb and use that however, I HAVE NOT DONE THIS MYSELF SO CAN NOT SAY IF IT CAN WORK IN A MAGLITE.
