Just thought to start a thread on the new Lumapower M3 over here in the LED forum - so we can collect important info. What has happened with other lights of theirs (M1, F1, etc.) is that monster threads have been maintained over at the Manufacturers forum, where you get hundreds of posts regarding individual orders together with important info. on release dates, spec. updates and the like.

Here is what they say about the M3 on their website out just today:

"LumaHunter series new member : M3-Transformer : 11-Feb-2007 update

The new M3-Transformer with spec. as :

1. Compact size indoor use integrated with XR-E
2. Can feed with 1xAA, 2xAA, 1xCR123A
3. TypeII coating, (HAIII as options)
4. New design for Brightness control [TWISTY BEZEL] 2-stages of circuit control
5. 2-in-1 tail switch, 1 tatical and 1 reverse clickie. Same as DX1 and D-Mini.
6. 2+2 switch with total 3 stages brightness control (optional)
--> 2 stages tail-switch can offer Lo-Hi at Hi-Circuit out
--> 1 stage for LO-Circuit out
7. All parts in module for easy upgrade, e.g. TURBO HEAD, reflectors...

The 1st production order placed before Chinese New Year, since there is a rather long holiday for most factory, the fastest schedule should be 17-Feb-2007 (Maybe a bit delay for 15 days.)

Our dealer will help to handle the 1st batch of M3-Transformer because shipment will be most delay from Hong Kong during the holidays.

There will be a new Thread to Handle M3."

Pics look definitely cool.

As best I can tell the philosophy behind this new light is that it can take all diff. kinds of batteries with extension tubes. But, still unclear what the LED used will be, output/runtimes, etc.

Personally, looking forward to learning more about this new light!

Trying to add pics (just learned today how to do it, hope it works!) of the Lumapower M3:

It's wonderful that Lumapower listen to our demand, and good thing I held off buying L1D-CE

Really CANNOT wait to see size and spec for the 123 option

Are they regulated? I don't mind to have the Cree or seoul running at 1amp

have to tell you, just looking at these pics gives a sense of a high quality product - just the machining, detailing, and even the threads!

I just got their M1 and am extremely pleased on the quality it's all I can do to stop myself from ordering a second one!

Thank You VERY MUCH ,

I only recently happened upon this wonderful LED Flashlight company since most of my time is spent in the HID forum these days.
I only check the LED forum or Elektrolumens forum occasionally for something real exciting.
Late last week I happened into the Manufacturers forum and WOW have I been missing out.

From what I have read I think all of their lights are must haves :D .
I have an LP-Mini on the way and it will definitely not be my last if it is as nice in person as it looks in the pics.

Take Care,
mtbkndad

definitely, we are on the same page on this one!

butteryjunction I just noticed includes the M3 in the TITLE of their Lumapower sales link, but does not yet have a specific link for the M3 itself. Let's see how long it takes for it to appear - the Chinese new year might interfere with a quick release, especially if you want to get all the accessories, buttery tubes, and the like.

Wow, that looks sweet! And a 123A body with a clicky! I'm interested to know the dimensions with the 123A body and clicky.

The Lumapower M3, Jetbeam Jet1 MKIIX, and Rexlight all coming out soon...wow, so many options...too little money.

Chinese New Year will essentially shut much of the Country down for 10 working days.
Yes, two weeks of delay. I am working on other projects right now that are possibly running into the same time problem :hairpull: .

Take Care,
mtbkndad

The last pic above looks like the 123 clickie configuration, longer than the AA twistie F1 next to it. Looks like we have to look elsewhere for the "short as possible, 123 clickie" solution.
I agree that Lumapower's machine work looks superb! The modular approach of the M3 promises to offer something for everyone.
Several wishes: I hope that the adjustable brightness levels remain fully regulated rather than PWM, and I hope that we will see a run of M3s in either stainless or brass/nickel (like the LP-mini), or perhaps even titanium!
Lumapower seems to be setting the gold standard in quality/value and certainly responsiveness to customer needs! They seem to be moving at such a lightning fast pace in engineering-to-production - I would like to know how many are working at Lumapower.
Maybe they will one day soon tackle the AAA-clickie that I think would be the ultimate keychain light.

Looks like the same bodies as the LM 300 series. Specs for these are in the Manufacturers section. I had a 303 briefly and it was really nice. Got rid of it to make room for some Crees - glad I did.

more specific info. about the M3 quoted by Ricky - Lumapower:

M3's circuit is constant current regulated, same as before we study and concluded to fixed the feeding current at 380mA (approx.)

And sure it's 2-stages [Bezel-Twist] for Lo-Hi circuit output.

Body comparisons to the M3. LM301, LM302, LM303.

These are pictures of the LM302. The body can be taken apart to make a 1AA. The long version is the 2AA Version.

ernsanada,

thanks for these comparison pics - very illuminating!

I had a question - if the M3 is the evolution of the LM30x's, what was the coating on the LM30x's? (the M3 is supposedly HA-2 by default, though there may be the possibility to upgrade it to HA-3, though details are elusive).

Very encouraging.

It looks like these could be the "lego blocks" of the flashlight industry. I like it. Let the consumers themselves decide on what the configuration they like the most is...

I hope everything is truly plug-n-play as possible.

I look forward to seeing how this develops over the next month or two...

The black LM's 301,302 and 303 are a type II anodize or HAII as you call it.

Can someone smarter than me translate 380mA to Lumens output? If it is possible. I almost never see a Lumen rating for Lumapower lights. ??
Thanks.

I was wondering about that too, 380mAh sounds awfully low? I thought the D-mini was running at 550, I was hoping the new lights would run at 1000 since Cree has announced their LED can run at 1000 reliably, hmmmmm
