Ed from LumaRay is running a passaround here in the forums and I got the FL6 anf FL12 lights for review.

The white one is the FL6 and the dark one is the FL12. The FL6 has six LED's and the FL12 has 6 LED's as in the FL6 plus 6 in the middle of the head, where the FL6 has none.

Here are the two lights with a FiveMega HAIII 2C. Keep in mind that the FL6 and FL12 are "three" C lights - talk about efficient packaging by LumaRay!!!

Here is the FL12 next to some other (hopefully) well known lights. FL12, FM HAIII 2C, standard 2C HAIII, FM 1.5D, Modamag 1D, WQ HAIII 1C (yes, WQ is me - this is one of my new projects on my lathe!):

and with my beloved M6 replacing the FM 1.5D in the middle:

Here is another comparison, this time with my custom Red 2D emergency light running 32 "normal" 5mm LED's:

OK, lets go for some beamshots!. All photos with Canon Rebel XT, kit lens on F5.6, manual exposure (contstant for each group), manual focus.

First indoors at about 20 feet along a hallway. Note how much brighter and nicer the FL12 is:

Here is the afterglow of the FL6 followed by the FL12 (these were on different exposures, but I think you can get the feel how they look like):

This second group of photos was also indoors, but now at a longer distance, about 35 feet, showing more of the sidebeam (or lack of). Note again how the FL12 looks great!

Now for some outdoor shots. This is at about 40-45 feet or so. Note that the FL12 has a little better color rendition than the 5W LED module. Also note the FL12 where there is a distinct transition blue aurora on the outer edge of the corona. The regulated N2 incandecent (although out of focus) shows the colors better.

Another outdoor shot, this time at about 15 feet to try to show color vatiations. FL12 again looks better than the 5W LED module, although the regulated N2 incandecent is still champ of the outdoors in terms of color rendition !!!.

I just received my Lumaray FL6. It is a marvel of engineering, congratulations to whomever designed this jewel. The latch mechanism is so simple yet so complex...

The FL6 is a pretty bright light, like having 6 inova x1s in a bunch, with the spots all focused together. Little sidespill, but more than the inova x1 due to the different type of lens. Still, the light can be pointed directly at a person without blinding them. The beam profile is not PERFECT, due to the 6 LEDs that shine together. At around 6', the beams converge into a uniform spot.

The lumaray is a very satisfying light to hold and use. If you like lights with very tight beams, this light fits the bill. The on/off is very smooth. There are no threads to twist at all, a great innovation.

I'm looking forward to see what kind of products they come out with next.
