Lumintop problem

I recently purchased a Lumintop EDC18 light. It came this week with a 18350 tube that i ordered with it. I have tried using protected cells but they wont work. So i buy an unprotected cell and it wont charge in my charger (all my other batteries charge in it no problem) Any ideas as to what i am doing wrong ? Why wont protected cells work in it ? Although I'm sure you've already checked, it's still worth mentioning. Is the unprotected cell's positive cap sticking out far enough to make contact with the charger's contact? Is there a way for you to check the voltage of the unprotected battery?

yep its out far enough, i don't have a multimeter, might have to get one tho
