hi, newbie modder here /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif
well, not really, but i haven't done one in such a long time that i'm sure most people won't even recognize me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif
anyway, it's nothing special, just something i've been wanting to do for a long time.
i've always wanted a luxeon light with a convient charging method, just like my ultrastinger, so i figured, why not just mod the ultrastinger? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif
after planning to do it for probably a year or so, i finally got around to it these past couple days.
it's running an r2h and downboy750. theres not nearly as much room in one of these as there is in a mag, so it took a bit of cramming and figuring to make sure the focal point was right, and there was enough room for the stuff underneath the hood.
shot from the top (the reflector has been bored out, as can also be seen in the below picture)
bored reflector from the back
shot without the head. that's a hotlips heatsink that was turned down, bored out from the top, and faced off from the bottom.
and proof that it actually works.
really sorry i wasn't able to get any pictures of the inside, i couldn't find the camera until it was all together /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
as you might expect, the ultrastinger reflector works pretty well. the throw is comparable to that of a lux3 directdrive 3d magmod, as far as i can tell given my urban surroundings. considering it's driven at only 750 and is a "mere" r2h (i got that dam led when it was nearly vaporware, and now that i've finally gotten around to using it, it's merely bleh /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif )
i'd include beamshots compared to the 3d mag mod, but they'd look identical on camera (they're nearly so in person)
