Re: Mag 3300L

Mac, will these work in lights without the "D" character in the serial number?

Must the light have the "D" for this to fit/function properly?

Re: Mag 3300L

I would like to see the beam compared to a 623 build, I'd imagine this would come close....

are you waiting to get the newer luxrc boards without preflash for this build? ty

They will not work with Mag's without the "D"

The Pre-Flash thing is really not a big deal and does not bother me or anyone I have showed the light to. The updated boards look like they won't be available until the end if the year.

Would this drop-in work in a host like the one below? It uses a 'D' head and 2x26500 Li-Ions.

Will the switch handle 5 amps? This drop in fits in the head so if the host can hold 2x 26650 cells then it should work with some slight tweaking.

Re: Mag 3300L

I have a 6'' long lime green host with a tail switch, is it possiable to use it with 2 26650 batteries.

I highly doubt you could use 2 cells but if you would like I could set the light up with 1 cell. You would have slightly reduced output.

Re: Mag 3300L

I Notice there are optical lenses fitted would it be possible to fit different optics to give throw

If you want throw you need a single small die led, large diameter and deep reflector or aspherical lens.

Re: Mag 3300L

Is the switch capable of 5 amps? Is it long enough for 2 65mm cells?

Mac

The switch will be VanIsleDSM's newly introduced FETtie and it is supposed to handle 25 amps. The host is designed for 2x26500 cells not 2x26650, but I use IMR LiMN chemistry Li-Ion cells so they should deliver sufficient voltage and amperage.

My concern is contact with the batteries. The host itself seems to have been designed for FM's G4 bi-pin socket. When I tried an ROP bulb instead of the socket, I had to use a magnet in between the cells to make electrical contact for the ROP to operate. I'm wondering if there was a way to make sure your drop-in worked with the FM host. I like its form factor because it is basically a 26mm bored 2C light that uses a Mag D head.

Thanks Mac for your consideration on my odd setup.

Just thought about it again and the ROP setup I described above may have been using the McClicky in the tail and not the FETtie in the tail right now (FETtie has longer spring than McClicky). I'll have to experiment tomorrow to see if I get different results.

Finally got to test the host again with my ROP bulb and so far no connection issues with the battery and the FETtie switch.

Therefore, please add me to the list of people interested in a Neutral drop-in.

Hi Mac, How would one of the 3300l Neutral drop-in's fare with a 6D NiMH setup? Will it work in this config? If so i'd like to grab one please 🙂
