I was on my 2nd m@gcharger 6v battery pack (genuine m@g product), and the light was working 2 months ago but a week ago wouldn't charge, opened the tailcap and total corrosion inside and white powder dumped out. Couldn't get the battery to come out. Have you ever heard of this happening?

ps- It was over 2 years old, guess it should be changed yearly.

Re: Magcharger's batteries leak

I had the exact same experience. I even replaced the tail cap and spring the first time, put a new battery in it, and one day went to use it and it wouldn't work - all corroded again. I have a different rechargeable now, I charge it for 12 hours then take it off the charger. Not sure if that makes any kind of scientific sense or not, but I've not had problems with the battery.

They told me years ago to charge for 12+ hours after the first battery did
the exact same thing, which I always did.

An email from them explained the repair charges, (lifetime warranty?,right)
and I then just threw it in the trash. Ya, I know, probably shouldn't have.
But every time I needed the light, it was dead again, and it's so huge, and
needed to be plugged into the wall charger all the time. Just no longer
practical. That's why I got an L2D. It's way more useful for me.

Paul, the Magcharger is a very commonly used light in Police work in Australia, I have heard similar stories more than once

Thanks. The charger was alright, I think. Perhaps my fault as I charged then
let it set for months till needed, then charged again, etc. To be honest, the
battery may have been over 10 years old.

Now I got to find a good thrower to replace it. Might get a Streamlight TL-3,
at least the batteries can set in it for months till ready to use it, I hope.
