So is this still the best single 18650 thrower?
It is by far the best throwing single 18650 available. Mine does almost 800k lux.
That's amazing. Which configuration gets you that kind of throw, Bigwilly?
Alex is correct. XPG2 PDTc single mode. It's throw is ridiculous for it's size. That's amazing. Which configuration gets you that kind of throw, Bigwilly?
I didn't realize there are multiple single modes out there. Very cool.Xpg2 PDTc single mode. I have one and the throw is just stupid !!!

Here's a question for ya
My M25CvnT does 783 lumens and 775k lux
My M25Cvn does 816 and 343k lux.
Both single mode and test jmpaul with high drains.
So why does the the smaller head put out more lumens? Comparing side by side it's definitely noticeable brightness wise. You wouldn't think so but it is. Throw wise the turbo destroys all but the TM36vn at 200 yards plus.
That's not too far apart considering emitters vary +\- a bit even in the same flux bin - lumens & VF.
Also the different lenses and reflectors can have quite an effect on OTF lumens and lux.
Numbers wise, that makes sense that just led variation would explain the difference in lumens. But why does the non turbo seem noticeably brighter when directly comparing side by side? Pretty much everything is equal other than reflector size.
Its just an illusion. the hotspot at like 1 foot should look brighter with the none turbo head as all the light is focused to a smaller spot. turbo head has a much larger spot at 1 foot but the lights more spread out within that spot. once you go past 100 feet the turbo has the smaller spot and is brighter. ever notice a light like the sl2 with 1300 lumens at 3 inches from the head is eye melting bright lol. that 1300 lumens is in an area smaller then 1 inch while say a k40vn for example that same lumen or more is in a 3 inch area. so the sl2 is more concentrated at 3 inches. but of course past 10 feet the k40vn would win. im sure the way i explained it sounds confusing i just suck at explaining things

Not much activity here for a while.
Is it still the best single 18650 thrower?
And what throws better - regardless of number of batteries (excluding the likes of the 47 XM18 of course - I mean hand-held).
Yes, this one is the best that has been offered, though it's not in the current line up. Vinh has gone away from pencil beam throwers to more high lumen throw monsters with 400-600kcd, like the T6, RC40 and K70.
Outside of Vinh, only the Deft x and Rev Victor series will out throw this one, but good luck getting hold of one! 🙂
What is it you want for your application?
Nothing as utilitarian as that. I just want to know if this is still the best single 18650 thrower even if it is no longer available.
'Best' in the sense of what throws furthest
Osram black flat emitters are the thrower's choice these days. Although, most are pencil thin beams, if that's your taste.Been away for a while and trying to catch up by asking questions. How does this compare to what is out there now in terms of throwers? Thanks in advance for replies.
