Well, not really, only about 6 inches deep. That is about the maximum depth of my depth testing equipment (bathtub) It was quite happy for the little swim, there was no leakage at all, and it came out of the water as good as it went in (if a little cleaner /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif). For all of you guys who have wondered if thier M6 would survive a dunking, now you have your answer. Although, surefire has been a little hit-or-miss with their waterproofing, so I might have just been lucky and got a good one, so dunk your M6 at your own risk. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif If I had a digital camera, I would take some beauty shots of her in the tub, but alas, I lack the funds to buy such an expensive piece of non-flashlight equipment.

non-flashlight equipment? You must be joking! Most digicams nowadays comes with a built in flashlight. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

True. And make sure you're not in the tub with the M6 between your knees while shooting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Well, I've got an old 50 gallon oil drum outside (NO idea where that came from or how long it's been there...) which I've used on a couple of occasions to test waterproofing, no way on earth I could afford an M6 though. More often than not though, the bathtub does suffice.

Possible related idea for checking seals, or finding an impossible to track down leak:

Firstly, make sure that the water in the bath is warm-hot...not scalding, but not cold either.

Secondly, open the light (to break the seals) and put it in the fridge or freezer for a while. take it out once it's cold, and close it up.

Dump it in the bath.

In theory, as the light warms up in the water, the air inside will expand, and show up any leaks as bubbles where the air is escaping.

Maybe someone else can tell me whether or not this is a dangerous way of testing things (Pressure buildup sufficient to cause explosion?) or whether it's safe enough.

Just a ramdom idea I just had.

I once lost an M6 due to subjecting it to dramatic thermal gradients between a cold pool and hot tub. It was an old Lexan len version though.

Al, does this have anything to do with what Shelby was talking about over in the L4pic thread? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes.
With the laws being different in Vegas, we weren't sure whether we broke many. It was a Geology Fieldtrip - The same trip we woke up in a motel room to find I believe seven or eight of us (12 Students total) in the same bed with the same hangover...

The Prof who woke us up didn't seem too bothered [after what happened in Spain he wasn't shocked by us anymore]

Those fieldtrips were some of the best days of my life so far.

Reading the signs at Badwater by the light of the M6 since we ran out of sunlight on the way down from Devil's Gate (I think that was the name of the place higher up)

That M6 came in really useful. It was given a new Pyrex TurboHead, TailCap and MB20 after the hot tub night though.

Man, I had an M6 all this time, and didn't even know what an MB20 was? What an idiot! Thanks for the info Geoff! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
