I am running M61T in MD2 / 18650 and M61, latest-greatest version in an MD3/2x18500.
The lux of the latter M61 seems to be equal to lux of M61T. I always thought M61T had a much higher lux. Could it be that the dual cell configuration gives it that much more boost? M61 is very impressive. 470 lumens and what is the lux rating of this latest incarnation of M61?

The m61t and m61n have very similar output when run on a single li-ion, but with two li-ions or two 123's the 61t is noticeably more bright. If you are using a single 18650 you are getting more out of using the m61n or w with good cri.

The m61t is a great drop in but I do wish it gave full output on a single li-ion. You can always use it in an md3 which is an excellent pairing for it.

Put each one about 24" from the wall…the one with the smaller hot spot will be throwier. But eventually output wins the race between two similarly throwing emitters…XPL-Hi can pump out more lumens than a SST-20.

M61(SST20) on left, M61T (XPL-Hi) on right.
With the TIR, the M61T is more throwy on the wall.

They are definitely similar when using same battery

You guys got me thinking about m61t's so I've got one on me today. I use a minus green filter in mine and it looks pretty good for a CW. Primaries for brightness.

I stuck the M61T in MD4 body and indeed, it was much brighter and noticeably destroyed M61 on one cell - or even two cells.

I think I just realized I was comparing M61T on one cell with M61 on two cells. And even then they were merely equal, with M61 having the same lux but a large hotspot.

The latest-greatest M61 is a great buy. Always was and still is great. A classic.

Where does one acquire said minus green filter?

You're looking specifically for a Zircon filter

Minus green filter from Boaz on budget light forum.

Or search around the web for this

What's the highest percentage glass that's all clear and real tempered glass, like in the SF 6P series? The plastic thing that comes with MDx series is very soft, easy to scratch.

You can order sapphire off aliexpress and ebay, or the link below is Merican.
MDx is 26.5mm x 1.5mm
VME is 22.5mm x 1x5mm
