Mag Charger Question

I just got a Mag Charger brought back to Ireland from the USA where they are less than Half the price here, but My question is I had to dispose of the 110v PSU that came with it which I see has an output of 14v DC. I cut off the connector and attached it to a 220v 12dc @ 350ma PSU, which I am now using to power the cradle. What I'm concerned about is that the red led on the cradle does not go out even after 24 hours charging and the torch feels warm to the touch after this amount of time on charge. So should the led go out after full charge and also is it OK for the torch to be left on charge 24/7 without damaging the Battery..

Couldn't resist My Mag Charger purchase but its not a patch on My M@g85 thanks to the Help of You Guys

Any feedback on the Led issue appreciated

Cheers Bren..

Stock charger is a constant current charger (C/10) and not smart one.
NiCad batteries can take some overcharge but I would remove it from charger after 14 hours which is sufficient time to fully recharge depleted battery.

And the LED on the cradle will NOT go out when the charging is done. The heat build up are the Ni-Cd cells way of dealing with an overcharge condition.

Thanks for the replies Guys, I had a feeling it would just overcharge if left in the cradle. I will just unplug the PSU after 15 to 20 hours to save the battery and top it up as needed, though having it mounted on the wall next to the bed is handy just in case I have any uninvited Visitors during the night.. :twak:

 Welcome to CPF

The led charging light stays on unless you take the light out of the charger dock.

You can leave the light in the charger all the time without risk of over charge. I believe I read somewhere to make sure not to leave it charging for more than 30 days.

Anyway I have 3 of them and they stay charging all the time and I have never had a problem with leaving them on the charger. I drain them down every month and do get 1.5 hours + when I do this.

Yes I have three of them so ya I LUV the Magcharger :grin2:

Not too much of us here leprechaun.. I love my MC's also but not so much as keeping my power bills low. :)
