So i folowed the guideline on CPF on how to sputtered a reflector, the thing is i am not sure if the end result is what i wanted for P7. Is this good or bad?
The beam came out nice but too soft.

Help Please

Looks like you just sputtered a little too much. Do you have another Mag reflector around? Try it in stages. First just a tiny bit then more, until you have the beam you want.

I have found that self sputtered, cost a lot of lumens and throw, when done like this done 4 and i've wasted for std reflector's do in so :sigh: , the random golf ball type dimple work better as is the finish in most sputtered reflector's. cheers DocD

What?

Yeah i thought so, i over do it a little :ohgeez:

@JimmyM: how to do a sputtering in stages? i cant get the final result until i passed the final-gloss layer. I did 2 layers first of fine mist, i want to try a dripping method but wasnt sure, might get better result.

@Gunnerboy: :oops: i used paint.

I did a ceiling bounce test and compared it to stock reflector, didnt see drops in brightness(well to my eyes at least)

Anyone knows where to get a m@g stock reflector?

Yes. Aerosol hairspray.

Interesting, never heard of that before. Do you have any examples, I'm curious?

Yes any type of orange peel will affect throw but the nice thing about sputtering is you can control how much sputter you like. I prefer to use light to medium sputtering. Doesn't cost me a lot of loss in throw or lumens. The type of paint used is important too.

Here's one that I did that I consider medium to heavy sputtered for use with a P7. On the right is KD's MOP reflector.

Hey, that's a nice job of sputtering Will.

Sorry, no photos. This was a stock Mag reflector that I gave away after sputtering. My hairspray results were similar to yours, basically a light-stipple.

Excellent job, nice sputtering the one i should have :(

I guess its worth a try with a hair spray since it's a reverseable.
