Looks as if four 18650 sized cells ought to power it up to appropriate levels. What is the shortest Mag a 4x18650 pack (in any usable configuration) can fit in to power up the 64623 and would the body require boring?

If a 4x18650 pack will fit a 2D bi-bore, what is the shortest Mag host that fits a 6x18650 pack for the 64655?

With 3 high, you are getting into the tailcap in 3D bi-bore size. Probably would either need a custom switch that gives more room, or 4D.

Pulling ~10A out of an 18650 is ~4C, which is more than somewhat inadvisable.

I was just going to mention that as well. The only safe solution would be to run 4 emolis in a 5D.

You could also run 4s2p in a 5D, but even at 5A/2+C some protected cells would not work. Actually I don't think any protected cells would work, as the ROP at 4A already seem to max out the AW cells.

I think he was planning on using 4 Emoli 18650 cells, the Lithium Manganese Oxide variety, which should be good up to around 20 amps.

When I said 2 emoli 18650 will fit in a bi-bored 2D, that also assumes you get more room at both ends. Need to shave a bit off end of tailcap, and grind down some of the plastic ridges of mag switch. You can also do a setup like Mac does in his Torch mags to get more length room.

Would there be much advantage over this verses the 15.6 elite packs though?

On a practical basis, nominal Emoli 3.7 x 4 = 14.8V; charged 4.15 x 4 = 16.6V, which is lower than NiMH 15.6V nominal; charged (4.15V) x 13 cells is 18.85V. Capacity is similar @ 1500mAh for Emoli 18650 & 2/3A Elite.

Main point is these Emoli's in 18650 is a new safe chemistry development in this form size....so more options.

What I want to see is a new light body that fits 3 18650 wide....which would be between Elephant and Mag D

I would like to see the 3 side by side arrangement also, but as you have shown 4 will fit in the elle's which is nice. :)

what you explained for the 623 in a 2 d illistrated my point, I think the 15.6V pack is better for 2D 623, but the 18650 cells are interesting, but as for options, I'm struggling to think of any at the minute.

I tried to get a bulb manufacturer to make a 6V~7.2V'ish lamp for overdriving that could pull 10A+, for use with the 18650 emoli but thats still in the works... and may never happen.

Still if it did it would be a small short running, but inefficient light.
