I have a Mag6D that I would like to take out of the dark ages, with 10 1/2D's and an Osram 50W globe.

I can get 6V 5x1/2D packs or loose 1/2D's. What is the best way to charge these in Australia (240V)? I know that I can charge the 1/2D's on my NiMH charger that takes 4xAAA-D sizes, but this will take three goes to charge 10 cells. Will a universal charger for packs (110/240v <14V) work for charging the 5 cell packs? Or even all 10 cells together? The cells I'm looking at are 4000MaH NiMH.

...and as a side note - Any ideas how much runtime I would get out of this setup?

Thanks :D

I use this SmartCharger to charge my MagCharger packs used in a Mag6D. I do them one at a time because my home made cell holder is only long enough for one pack at a time. But there's no reason it shouldn't be able to charge both packs at once if I built an appropriate holder. I just don't need to recharge them often enough to justify building a custom holder.
